Thank you
@Deplorable for what you said just before I left. "He may not remember it, but YOU will"
I've been thinking about that since we left. You're right. So right.
@shawn and
@trailhugger sorry I couldn't explain. Pops is 78 and had been riding at big creek since 9:30 and his wife had back surgery last week. He was tired and wanted to see her at Forsyth or I would have stayed and had a rap off with
@Paul
Thank you
@Jason W. And
@josh$$ it was AMAZING!
Jason and
@Debra Thank you for coming to see me off and understanding. You both mean the world to me
Thanks so much
@jeepin' jen and
@Mulishajoe y'all made the day SO fun!! We've really gotta get together more often! And
@J.C. for the wisdom and guidance (and load of patience) it was an honor to be on the trail with you.
For those that weren't aware I brought my 78 yr old Godfather...who is not my blood, but better than I ever deserved. Anyway, he's been suffering from dimensia now for about 5 years and yesterday was really tough for me. About everyv20 minutes we had the exact same conversation. Honestly he had no idea how long we were out there but he showed signs of fatigue so I knew it was time to go.
Took him to my house and I showered then took him to forsyth to sit with his wife, then dinner and on to clemmons to his daughters.
I've seen it both ways now....and I'm not sure what's worse on the survivors: seeing someone physically waste away or mentally reset every 20 minutes. Sorry for pissing and moaning...just love the man more than life and it's tuff to see a navy man that could reset time in my eyes, not capable of driving any more because he can't remember how to get to the home he's lived in for 50 years from the corner gas station.
I appreciate all you guys (and ladies)
Thanks so much
