I did basically the same in my 91 Burb. I went with a 12v a518 np241, still running on the stock 14bolt and 8 lug 44.
 
Heck yeah... I'm just going to use stock transfer case and a built auto. Going to leave it a computered 24v because I hate myself ... and 12v seems to easy.
 
I almost stuck with the GM NP241, you have to change the input shaft to the tune of almost $300 IIRC. I already had a Dodge 241 leftover from another project so I saved a little coin.

Motors out of the white truck cleaned and ready for so up grades ... thinking I'm just going to pump it... after it took 3 times longer to unplug everything then to do anything else..
