95 Bronco SAS

I slid the axle under the front to see what it looks like.

I slid the buckets as far forward as I could and with that it looks like the axle is centered under the wheel well.

Well the Lord has blessed me this past couple of weeks by helping me sell some stuff to buy some parts.

Here's the one thing I've been wanting but didn't want to pay $900 bones for. Thanks Danny Kim (fusion213)

These are the Cage Radius Arms and they are
BEEFY!!!!!! :Rockon::Rockon::Rockon:

Also Jim Camps came over and purchase the TTB lift and a NP205 T-case so now the Sterling will probably be getting some 4.88 gears.

What size springs are you going with?

Well I meant to order the Cage progressive 5.5" but ordered the 6.5". So I am planning on straigtening the bottom of the upper coil bucket and raising them on the frame about 2". This should put back to where I'm was at with the 6" procomp lift.

I got the coil buckets located the other day and then got some parts in today.

Bilstein 5150 14" travel shocks (Thanks to Firetoy)

good choice on the shocks-- i think you'll like them. you putting a locker in the front?

keep it up, looking good.

The front already has a locker.

Due to limited funds I'm going to wait on a locker for the back so I can get it on the road. I'll probably put a Lockrite in when I get the dossshhaa!

Well I took the front axle shafts out today so I could put new u-joints back in which I knew I had to do anyways. Well this is what I found on the drivers side of the axle.

I don't know what the previous owner did here. Looks like he tried to pry the bearing out with a screwdriver or something.

Just a pic of one of the axle shafts I've got to replace. I've already got one to replace it with.
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_809656_fullsize_dsc04817.jpg

This is what the hub on the drivers side looked like. I think the way seal was on the back of the spindle didn't keep out the water.

I've got an extra D44. I'm gonna check if I can use the spindle out of it instead of having to hunt or buy a new one.

hey ive got a good trac-lock,all you will need is one bearing(or replace both) cross shaft and bolt...100 bucks on your dime

Well after a 2nd 10.25 was purchased and the gears finally installed I've got the 10.25 cleaned and painted.

The first axle was brought from someone on here but I can't remember his name. It was posted as a 95 10.25 which would have the long yoke. Well after we got into it it turned out to be an older axle. So I ordered a longer yoke. Well then we found out it didn't have a tone ring. So i ordered a tone ring but once I got it the carrier and tone ring was probably almost 1/8" off so I knew no heating and cold was going to get them to work so I found another 10.25 and finally got it together!!!

The 10.25 is in and drive shaft bolted up. I know the u-bolts need to be cut down, I've just not got too it yet.

I've got the front axle set in place where I believe its good to go ahead and drill the RA brackets to the frame.

I thought I'd post some pics of it before I drill so you guys could take a look and see if I've got it set right.

I don't think the springs are totally compressed but are compressed pretty good.

I couldn't get a full view of the whole setup on the passenger side. I don't have enough room to back up to get it all in the pic.

Whatcha think?

I got a buddy of mine to build my crossmember for me. Man he can weld!!!! We found some diamond plate and C-channel. I wanted it built out of 2x3 or 2x4 tube but we could find any in the scrape bin.

Begger's can't be choosie!!!
He built it from a drawing I made up. I was nervous about it actually fitting right but when I got home and slid it in place it fit like a glove. When he welded the trans mount plate I had to guess on my angle and held it in place while he tacked it. Well I was a little off so once installed the C channel isn't quite level but oh well it works. I thinki I was about 2-3 degrees off so once it's installed the plate that's bolted to the frame won't look exactly squared up. I may trim the edges so the plate sides will be square.

I'll round off some edges, clean it up, paint it and reinstall it next week.

He put some big welds on it. Said he wanted it to be really strong. I'd love to be able to weld like he does.

I'm going to trim up the bracing for the trans mount so it doesn't look so jagged. I'll post updated pics when I'm done with it and mounted.
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_858622_fullsize_dsc05816.jpg

A glimpse of what it will look like when done. The front wheen is mounted on the axle but the back is just sitting on the ground is why it looks like they sit different.

Got the crossmember cleaned up and painted. I'll let it dry tonight and install it tomorrow.

Well a little closer to completion! I've got the TRE's in but wanted to get the bronco on it's own weight to see where I'm at. And my assumption was correct. My coild buckets are too high so I'll have to work on the front some more.

I've still got the brakes, steering linkage, shocks, rear spring plates, and rear shock hoop.

Here's a few pics.

Here you can slightly see the front is sitting lower. It doesn't look that bad in the pic but it's actually about 1" to 1 1/2" lower. So I'm going to get some more spring buckets with the lip on the bottom. Also the passenger side is sitting about 5/8" lower but I'm thinking it's due to the wheel being turned to the left instead of straight.

I'm actually kind of digging the H2 wheels but we'll have to see once I can get'er rolling under her own power.

Here's the TRE's. I didn't want to get the linkage until I had the bronco sitting on it's own weight to see where it was. Man am I so glad I did.

In this pic you can see the axle bracing that GearHead built. I'm going to remove it when I take the axle back out to redo the coil buckets and install the 2* C bushings.

I can't decide if I want to use the stock panhard axle location or build a bracket on the center of the axle.

Hey Mike, Bronco is looking good! I can give you a quick piece of advice. After doing a few SAS on TTB trucks there's a quick trick to getting axle and panhard bar clearance on that crossmember. Gonna need to relocate that line(I always do a single center brake line on these trucks. A piece of 1.5-1.75 tube will go between the pan and the crossmember just like the pic. then you can chop the bottom clean off and plate accross if u so choose(no real benefit). This example is a pic i snapped of a daily driven explorer I did a couple of years ago(still daily driven). I work in KPT too btw so if you need anything u can always shout at me.

Thanks for the heads up TN! I do plan on cutting the crossmember just haven't gotten around to it. I am also going to a center drop brake line to the axle then hardlines out to the RA's then flex lines. I just got through ordering all the brake stuff the other day so all that should be here sometime this week.

I've got all my steering linkage set where I want it. I'm taking the track bar and upper mount to a buddy's house that has more welding experience and better welder than my HH140 to weld them up.

This is the Ingalls Engineering that I went with. I brought the 10* reamer as well.

So if anyone is wanting to do this setup I will rent you the reamer. Details on that in another thread.
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_914014_fullsize_dsc06167.jpg

Here's the lower track bar in place to give you an idea as to how it will look.
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_914020_fullsize_dsc06166.jpg

Here's everything mocked up where it will set. The track bar and drag link are 1* maybe 2* off from one another.
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_914015_fullsize_dsc06161.jpg

This is the upper track bar mount tacked up and ready to be welded up for good. It's all .250" wall the mounting part is 2"x4"x.250" square tubing. I've got to build a brace to go from the crossmember to the track bar bolt for better support. The bolt is 3/4" Grade 8.
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_914016_fullsize_dsc06162.jpg

Side view of mount. Once it's welded up I'll round off the edges and possible cut it short for esthetcial (SP) reason!
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_914017_fullsize_dsc06163.jpg

I'm thinkink about doing another brace from the back end of the cross member over to the rear part of the angle for added support. Any thoughts about this?
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_914018_fullsize_dsc06164.jpg

Here's a pic of the crossmember cut. I'm going to weld a piece of flat plate to the bottome of this section for a little more support. I'll also be doing a Saginaw pump swap and cooler so the lines will be gone as well.
awww.supermotors.net_getfile_914019_fullsize_dsc06165.jpg

Only thing left is gear oil in the diffs, brake fluid and bleed lines, shocks and rear shock mount and bump stops.

braxton357 - If I remeber right I think it came out to around 7* or 8* positive. I changed out to some 2* bushings. After I got them in and sat the bronco on all fours I realized that I may have measured when the bronco wasn't sitting level and all fours so it was a little off anyways.

Yip but I'm thinking PartsMike sent me 1.75" for the track bar. It's big.

I got my track bar and mount welded up solid now. Just waiting for my 7 days off to work on it.
