I had trouble w/ this.
IIRC, ended up usin ga pitman arm puller - mayeb had to remove the brake line brakcet in order to have enough room for the puller body/ratchet to fit.

hmm, wonder if auto zone has the pitman arm for loan i did the pickle fork? ill call and check tomoro. gonna try again after i get off work tomoro evenin. thanks ratlab!

looked at auto zone for a a pitman arm puller, i cant understand exactly how you removed teh ball joint with it for some reason. did you put the claws of it on the base of the BJ?

FINALLY got em pulled and figured out a trick that can be done without any special tools.

1- keep upper bolts in upper BJ tight
2- take off bottom nut that attaches to knuckle along with cottor pin
3- take a hi-lift jack and put the arm of it under the upper control arm and jack it up a little to
relieve pressure
4- take a mallet and beat the fooey out of the steering knuckle
5- watch the knuckle drop off and take a deep breath
6- apologize to the toyota for calling it all names you just called it

Or you just buy a pitman arm puller (just like tierod end puller but bigger) for $15...or rent from Auto Zone) and avoid the profanity lol.

Yes I put it on there upside down and pushed "upwards"

awwww. i bet i seen the tie rod puller. i was sittin there thinkin how in the world you got that to work lol. oh well, next itll be a solid axle

bought a pitman arm puller, the jaws rounded off and wouldnt hold on the knuckle, and the bolt from the puller mushroomed the end of the bolt from the ball joint so bad the castle nut woldnt go back on it. i took a grinder to it and finally got a nut on it. long story short, a local shop is gonna put the lower BJs in and a pass side CV for $135.00

said heck the balljoints, replaced the uppers only. bought me a TG spring hanger kit from RPM Offroad the other day. probably gonna run some sorta trailer park white trash spring packs in the front and rear. in no particular order, gonna weld the rear, lock the front, hydro assist, dual cases with 4.7 in the rear(maybe) and wheel it. eventually wana run 39.5s with a real low COG, with some cuttin trimmin and tubbin. still need the axle, brake lines and some springs.

I plan to do RUF when i do the SAS, and i was reading the toyota bible on pirate4x4 about it. i seen some guys mention running boomerang shackles up front. Is that a personal preference, or is it beneficial in some way?

So they dont have to be used? What exactly are you talking about drilling?

Update- me and a buddy went and got 2 sets of axles. Gonna try to buy a front axle of him. Also got me 2 front spring packs and 2 rear packs to make me some custom packs. Got a set of first gen bucket seats, and a top shift tcase for free dollars. All I need is hysteer arms and dual case adapter

scored some 37 12.50 militaries. still not SASd, still need the arms and dual case adapter, oh yea and shock hoops. me and my wife just bought a house, and we sold our single wide, so looks like well be living with in laws til we close on the house in september. hopefully, fingers crossed, my truck will for sure be swapped by then

the back one looks slick, but they all have 3/4 tread at least or better

should be able to order all the SAS parts this week, or maybe next depending on when my taxes hit tmy bank lol. looking for SAS parts to. let me know what you have. toyota 3rds, dual case adapter, d shaft fro dual cases, shocks, shock hoops, springs, high steer kit, etc

also i would trade the 37 12.50 16.5s on black D window steelies in the pic a few posts back for a good set of 36-40" tires only for a 15in wheels. really want 38x12.50 TSL

Just ordered TG HySteer, shock hoops, axle rebuild kit, brake lines, and wheel spacers from low range, stay tuned.

haha yea i noticed that. Im glad to see that truck of yours is finally getting what it deserves. seems like it floated around a couple times. I wish I would have bought it!! lol Yours look slike its comin together good

got my parts in the other day from LowRange. They hooked me up with a key chain, windsheild banner, and more stickers. Great company to buy from, and cheaper on TG stuff than TG
