A new must-have

As stupid as those are, they are actually kind of intresting. I wonder how they connect to the system to allow you to change the pictures..

BTW, a set of 22's costs 12,500 dollars :flipoff2:

Wireless modem.

i'm mostly impressed w/ teh software - it must update pretty damn quickly. Wonder how well it maintains a smooth image as you brake, accelrate, or have otehr sudden changes in rotating speed.
And does it automatically turn off once the rotation gets slow (< ~60 Hz or so)?

hahaha you coudl really screw it up by regearing.

AHH I see it now! What happens if something ends up on the same frequency as the lights though?

fun untill you realize that everyday you drive, cars go off the road next to you and crash because their looking at them looking at them. no wait it might still be fun at that point.

um, isn't that what fcc regs are for???

Actually wireless modems are generally on the 2.4 ghz band. If anyone has a wireless modem, and a wireless phone (NOT a cell phone) in close proximety to each other, and often have connection problems, its the wireless phone.

A lot of things run on 2.4 ghz, I think Microwaves might be one. Not saying that theres anything on the street that could interfere with the wheels, but you never really know.

Actually... I have this problem! Every time my wife uses the cordless phone, I get kicked offline.

Took us damn near forever to figure out what was doing it. low and behold - bot hare 2.4 gHz.

hehe, did you realize it after my post? or before?

It took me a long time as well, so no worries :D

Can you change the channel of the phone? Or is it you simply need to get a new uncordless phone? Cause we have been having a ton of getting kicked off the internet problems at home but all our house phones are wireless and I did not know this info b4.

nope, it'll always be on the 2.4ghz band..

you need a new phone, I think they make 5.4 (5.9? i cant remember) Ghz phones too, but they are sometimes harder to find

5.4ghz.... radio shack has them.... they have hella reach on them too... i have them at work and i can literally talk all over my 50,000 sq ft warehouse on it with no static as long as im inside the building... this is with large crates stacked up ~20 in the air in between me and the receiver... the best thing to happen to cordless phones in a while

Before.... been dealing with it for 6 months now, since we got the wireless NICs... but it prob took a month after buying them to figure out what was going on (we rarely use our land-line phone).
Anybody know if all wirelss NICs use 2.4 Ghz/ itd be cheaper to replace them than the phone.

Not necessarily have to be 5.4.. as long as you get "802.11 friendly" 2.4 phones, you're OK. My Vtech's are like that..

It will plainly state it on the box if it is.

I am betting that their software is probably running pretty slow. If they are sending the images to the wheels via a modem, then the brains for the image are there. It would probably use a pickup of some kind in the wheel to time the images so that they don't roll no matter what speed the wheel is moving. They would have to adjust how long and when the lights are on for all speeds dynamically. We built a simple version when I was at state.
