After listening to 3 Joe Rogan podcasts interviewing Elon Musk (from ‘18-21) I am still just trying to further process it all. “We are already a cybernetic organism“ he says, because our phones are an extension of ourselves, remember events perfectly, make us much more capable solving problems and we even feel like we have a missing limb when we forget them at home.
They are like a “part of us kept in a cloud”….scary as heck to me but oh so true. We ARE right now programming AI. “All we love, and hate, and fear is on the internet”, we are the bootloader for something that will be infinitely faster and like Musk said, we better hope it’s nice or we are at least symbiotic with it or it will be out of our control.
The fact that he says he used to be kept awake by knowing AI was probably going to take over from men literally everything, he now has a more “fatalistic“ view and has just accepted it as an inevitability after attempting to warn anyone that would listen.
I know some do not ascribe to any faith but to me, I am believing more and more that the “beast” will be AI.
