The fires here still raging, still growing. Some as close as 4 miles from me. Depending on the wind direction will dictate how smokey it is around here. The rain Sunday was hopeful, but once it got close enough to do us some good, it headed north east and did nothing for us. Walking around outside seems harmless, but looking at my Suburban today, it is an issue. I think my dogs even know this. They have pretty much done their business and wanted back in.
I myself think it's time to look at things different in the battle. I think the loggers need to be brought in, drop trees to create a fire line and back them up with a crew of big dozers to further create the fire line. If nothing else, there will be some roads made that will aid in being able to get to where these fires are and potential future fires.
I have heard more prop type planes and helicopters in the last few weeks than I have ever in my life, mainly due to the fact that they have to fly over my home to go between the fires and lake James.
