All these fires....

I agree Chip, they need to get aggressive with these fires. I am right in between south mtn fire and table rock fire. Makes me nervous. Chip if you or anyone else gets to the point of too close call me , will hook up the trailer and haul whatever nessecary

I have already made arrangements for me, the dogs and the RV and what ever I can haul a place to stay.
Should it come to that I didn't want to be pulling out blind, with no place to go.

Well they have started turning guys out sooner than expected. No one was suppose to leave till after Thanksgiving. Decent weather has helped. Fire may only be 15% contained now but i figure it to be alot more by next Monday. Seen alot more lines being pushed. Forest service won't say the fire is contained till it burns till the fire lines and they hold. Should see that happening in the next few days if wind doesn't pick up.

Myself and three others from my department are heading up at 10 AM tomorrow. They told us to pack for seven days. We've had a crew of eight there since Monday.
The guys that are starting to leave on Friday were the first guys called up. Been up here almost two weeks. They have also called in the wildlife commission to come help.

Everyone be safe out there!! And a HUGE pat on the back for those of you up there fighting this stuff, or on your way to help. You guys rock!!

Those near the South Mountain Fire be careful. I heard it jumped a 200 yard line this morning and has consumed about 50 new acres.

Thanks for the update. I'm a few min from there. It was said last night that golden valley has a new fire. That's right across the street. I can see the smoke from across the mountain.

Damn , there is another fire now in old fort right off hwy 70! And the wind has howled here since sat morn.:(
Liked this only because you shared the info. If that spreads north into Curtis Creek, it's gonna mess up one of my favorite camping spots :kaioken:

@jeepinmatt, I think the fire around Curtis Creek is out, but there is another one a few miles up the road. I've got a friend with a brand new house pretty much at the bottom if this one....

I have only been casually following these fires, but the smoke made it clear to Durham a few nights ago.

I was driving back from Atlanta on Friday morning and somewhere north of Charlotte on 85 I saw a military helicopter with a full water bag strung up underneath flying west.

The wind the past two days has really helped to clear the air. Does anyone know if it made the fires worse?

That was me testing the new hookah. I'll be more considerate the next time.
