Maybe we have some slick bullshitters on here who could form a "hunt club", make some phone calls, and part of our hunting would be going 4wheeling to get to the good spots. Or maybe just "enjoy the great outdoors" in our rigs. $53k/year would be pretty acheiveable.

Call them up and let them know you have 40 potential investors lined up who want to survey the land......then we will all show up in our rigs for said survey and check it out for a couple days

Random thought and I’m out of my depth as to specifics but is there a way to buy the property as a haunting based operation, rent “leases” during season and then wheel it the rest of the time?

only issue is September to basically mid may is hunting season. and you can bet if a club is willing to put up 50,000+ a year they want unlimited access to it to maintain trails, shooting lanes, food plots and what not.

Slow down with that thought process before you fall asleep by the camp fire with a pork chop hanging out of your mouth there sparky.....lol

There is a way, SOUTHERN 4wd.
uhhh...NO!

Not to argue but just to ask the question. If the property is owned by X and leased to Y is it not the property owners right to dictate access. Trail access would be no problem (obviously) because they would be kept up via the concept of land usage. Food plots sure but that can be done and maintained during off hunting (wheeling) timeframes. Idk, I just think it would be a possibility and generated funds. Given, I’m typing this as a poor ass fool who would just pay an annual trail fee to come rub elbows with you rich types.

It would all depend on how the agreement was written. But the guys that lease the property behind my buddies pay close to that amount in just the lease, add in the maintenance they keep up stocking of the ponds and pheasant shoots they probably pump 75,000 a year into the property farmer has unlimited access of course as do they but the leasing people have say who
Is allowed on property.
We knew the farmer and now friends with the new landowners but if they are paying that much they want and will use it as a private retreat area.

There are also partial leases for certain rights only but that starts getting messy

Getting access/ownership locked in is a big part, but after not being operated or ridden for that long, the trails will need a TON of work. Myself and a few others were close to going in there last year for a day on the UTV's in a small group just before it sold but that fell by the wayside when sale talks started. From what we were told it was absurdly overgrown which is why the trail fleas were suggested if we made it happen. The roads were still there but the trails were almost unrecognizable. There are a few other spur trails besides the main entrance that you can access the property on so I'm sure locals still ride in there, but for the most part the fun full size stuff is pretty overgrown.

It would be cool to have the park back open and I love when this thread pops up every couple of years. I'm another one that would be in for a membership fee or whatnot to keep it going as well as some work days.

Back when it closed, JC worked every angle there was. Even came up with a offer to lease, & amount, per year. The original Controllers, laughed at the offer. I guess their not laughing Now!
BTW, I forgot to toss it out, a few days back, News told of another large parcel of land being put in Conservatory. I'm thinking it's part of Pisgah.

Zero faith in the SFWDA doing anything remotely good to keep an existing park open. Much less actually revive an old one.

If we were talking about half a mil, or even $1.5M I would be burning the lines up and networking my balls off to make it happen. And think it would be possible. But $11M? I don’t have much faith. But I sure would love to get even 100-150 acres open up just to give us more places, but also just to chap the taint of Trout Unlimited and the rest of the tree hugging saps that closed Tellico.

Is this a inside story I'm not aware off? Or really bad blood from previous poor management?
in short.
F-SFWDA
They will NEVER see another penny of money from me. I’d sooner never wheel again.
