I did aluminum links on the front of my Tacoma 3 link, 2" solid lowers, 1.75" solid uppers, all 1.25" Right hand thread. Never had a problem, going to be running the same setup on my buggy front and rear.
I've got a RHT tap, and the drillbit, may be getting a lathe before too long if anyone needs some drilled/tapped, if the lathe doesn't happen I can still drill/tap them on a friend's lathe.
Rich Q also has the 2" lowers and 1.75" uppers on his FJ. Not sure what thread he used on the uppers though. With the 1.25" thread and 1.75 solid, you still have 1/4" of aluminum all around the threads, which has seemed to be enough so far. I've got a couple spare (6061) links though if they ever break.
