Pretty sure you can factory restore back to original OS. You lose everything. Had to do it on my S4 shortly after I got it but before Kit Kat was pushed to it.
 
I can with odin, but that involves breaking the warrenty. I have a little while to go.
 
Use "KIES" you can back everything up on you computer, and I mean everything! !!! after the factory reset do a restore to your phone. Good to have to if you break your phone! I am on my third s5 and after the restore from KIES I have everything they way it was before it broke, background, ring tone, memos, apps and their placement on the phone.
 
I have had issues with kies on my desk top. Running Vista may be why. But kies runs like shit. I had to remove it, I guess may I will Re install. Been so tied up this weekend haven had time to screw with the phone.

Everything runs like shit on Vista!!!!
 
I did the cache partition Wipe. Seems to have helped the lag time. Haven't had any app issues yet either.

No root necessary for the. Google it for your phone. Only worked for a while on mine. I am still fooling with it.
 
I pulled in a patch OTA this morning. Working much faster so far..
