It’s the gt40 heads and factory mpfi intake with ev6 injectors, parts availability due to proliferation, and anything with mustang in the name carries a certain TAX so 5.0 mustang motor is reserved for the Buffalo Trace drinking crowd. Mod motors are too wide and don’t rebuild wellDang ol' thing got dem GT40 heads and intake. Makes purt near 500 horses on pump gas
Plus the accessory drive on the Explorer 5.0 is nice and compact. It’s the gt40 heads and factory mpfi intake with ev6 injectors, parts availability due to proliferation, and anything with mustang in the name carries a certain TAX so 5.0 mustang motor is reserved for the Buffalo Trace drinking crowd. since we have already derailed the thread...
I have wondered about building adapters that allowed factory LS injection & ignition components to be used on other engines. The more I have thought about it, I feel like it wouldnt really end up much different that running an MPFI setup from Holley/Edelbrock/etc on the same engine. Thoughts? & maybe there is more to the LS that makes it work like it does, than just the EFI system.
I took a decent look at running my Mopar 340 with an LS computer. There was a guy on moparts.org that was deeper into it than I ever went. The hardest part would be incorporating the crank trigger wheel. I had a wheel that I looked at mounting to the balancer, but the diameters were going to make it tricky and I didnt think I'd be able to get it to run true enough once I welded to to a spacer behind the crank pulley. Once I found a readily available 36-1 wheel and sensor mount, I went microsquirt and batch fire using info from the sloppy mechanics fairmont builds. The 24x ecus use a 1x cam signal that you can get with a distributor and some grinding. The rest is just wiring.
My build does use LS coils, TB, and GM sensors throughout.
Outside of an old build that was done when easy access to aftermarket ECUs wasn't a thing, why would you do that now ?
Just get a explorer 5.0 and be done.
I was talking about putting EFI and COP on a 340 MoparFIFY

Lol.Haha I know. My plan still applies.
Met some chick named @jeepin' jen. She giggles a lot. She did however rub Jasper's belly and kissed the fur off Callie's head.
@Mulishajoe is quite the imposing figureIm disappointed. That was the perfect opportunity to use the words "down-under" and "carpet".
