ANOTHER ROCK SLIDE ON I-40!

unless you are sill enough to run all the way up to 81 I cant see these hour plus delays I keep hearing.

Last time I compared them head to head, 52 to 77 to 81S was about the same as 40W. The mileage was a bit longer, but the travel time was shorter. That's probably not true for you Charlotte guys... but if you've got to go through G'boro and W-S anyway, there's no reason to go to Asheville.

I was talking about in Asheville.

The detour signs run you up 26 from asheville all the way to 81then back down 81 to 40.

You can ignore the detour signs and take 25/70

well I got to check thsi out last night first hand. I can't say why I was there but I was and I saw the mountain. It is unreal! There is a massive football shaped divot in the hill side and there are drills everywhere. The rocks are completely gone from the road but they are working now to stabilize it.

I did get to see the other slide as well. Definitely not as big as the orginal but still impressive. We couldn't stay long as that they said it was unstable and could collapse more.
