How do you like the dynasty 200? I've been looking at them for the last couple months to replace my current tig.
sorry for the slow responce, we do alot of 1/8 and 3/16 alum which it is underpowered for. it does excel at low amperage dc stuff like mild steel and stainless. it also has alot of extra features that the average user will never use much less understand. it is very compact and air cooled only. for the price i'd get a syncrowave unit if I had the room. unless your worried about some very specific weld perameters or plan on doing some serious tweaking with the sine waves to manipulate the weld output the only real advantage to the dynasty series is the little amp draw and power requirements to run them. Being inverters they seem to have a harsher arc quality and don't start as cleanly on the high frequency. They also seem to have a substancial price tag especially the 300.
I was told the 200 was created for the nitch market of portable repair, and was strongly suited for marine applications and marinas where everthing is hard to get to and thin.

im gonna put in my 2 cents. I bought a clarke 170 230V fan cooled. ive used all the millers and lincolns in school and for this thing to only be 300$, it welds just as good as they do. the parts are easy to find, and so far, no problems. it is rated at a 30% duty cycle at 100A and i have welded for 20-30 mins continuously on 3/8 plate and no problems. and as far as a helment, go to northern tool and buy the one for $60 and be done with it. NO BATTERIES, and its cheap, so if you get mad and throw it (or run over it as i usually do) ure not out 200-300. plus ive had one for 3 years and use it every day with no issues. as far as a good arc welder, I have an ANCIENT airco 125 230V that has outperformed any new machine i have ever welded on!

I have the lincoln XL100 at work, I carried it in my truck when on the road for those "random" broken things. I do concrete repair and construction, we have alot of gear that takes a beating, the 110V mig is great for quick fixes. When the gear gets home we grind out and use our powertherm 180V ac/dc/dcrp arc welder for perminant repairs. I also just ordered a Longevity LP416 plasma/Tig welder unit. They had a great sale on pirate4x4.com Should be here mid week, I'll post a review.
