just wondering if there are any trappers on here? just bought a 330 conibear to give a shot. beavers are wearing my pond out. sat down there during deer season a couple of times with the hope of seeing a beaver and didn't. did see a otter 1 evening and waited for a better shot and never saw him again. had the scope all over him to, just never made it to where I thought he was going. with all the beaver sign on the pond, I might need quite a few more traps. they are making a mess.

I'm pretty sure trapping in NC is non existent. Hate that! I have friends and family in PA that do really well at it.

I've trapped foxes and such, never trapped beaver conibear broke me at a very young age.

I've trapped a few raccoons and opossums. so this is new for me. can't wait to run over to the pond in the am. messed with the dam a little to let some water run out. just hope they find the trap. there are slides everywhere though. wish I had about 6 more 330's.

Find the lodge, take a long, stout sharpened stick or piece of rebar, jam it in the roof of the lodge at various points until you poke a beaver. You may hear a splash when it leaves the lodge. When it swims out you'll see a bubble trail, when it surfaces CHOOTEM !! :sniper:

Don't be on your stand up paddle board and get attacked by the Beaver. Over the summer a lady was on a paddle board on Beaver lake in Asheville and got attacked by a rabid Beaver. Now that's got to suck!

I've got a few spring traps set for the ridiculous number of coyotes, but have only had one get tripped. It is my first go at setting/hiding the traps and I've got a few ideas of what I could be doing better.

I did pick up some bait/lure that smells like a zombie abortion that Im going to give a try, possibly this weekend.

It's still here. I've got an employee that's hardcore into it. His dad does it and his brother too. He tells me of the others in the area that do it as well. They're out there they just don't publicize it.

my good friend kenneth who is the uber redneck of eastern North Carolina does trappin and has his own "Call of the Wild" business. I've eaten beaver, muskrat, and nutria that he has caught. You gotta pest,he yo man for eradication.

I'm sure there are people doing it, I was referring to the legal aspect of it. I don't understand why it isn't legal here, it's not like there is a lack of game.

It's legal there are rules and regs in the NC wildlife mag. Just like any other hunting season

At one time me and my old roommate had one of every big game animal and fur bearing animal in the state hanging on my living room wall

Two easiest ways to trap them. Bust a spot in the damn stick a trap in front of it, throw some small sticks into the mud to direct into the trap. Other way takes a little more time. Find out which slide they are currently working then find a sapling and skin it on the bank and place trap in water right in front of that slide.

It's definitely legal. There are rules though. Like you have to check the trap within 24 hours of setting it. Also, some animals are off limits. Foxes for example in Haywood County cannot be harvested.

yea, I busted each corner of the dam. set a trap on 1 side and set it up with logs to direct towards the 330. went this am and checked and no beaver. they didn't fool with it last night. I walked around the pond today since deer season is out and they are flat wearing it out. I need about a dozen 330 traps. its a 3 acre pond and is totally wooded all the way around beside the dam. they have the 2 creeks that feed the pond damned. they are some amazing creatures but destructive. can't wait to catch my first 1. have a guy that is supposed to help me.

pack some heat with you when you go...they can get big. I didn't know they could get that big. Kenneth fuged up a leg setting out his traps one afternoon.Asked me to go with him the next day and help him with his boat.Said sure what could go wrong with this. We get in his truck and he has his trusty 3030 in the seat between us. I asked him why the hell he have such heavy artillery for a furry little God's creature. We got to the first pond and put the boat in.Went to the dam and sure enough,he had one in a trap. That sow weighed over 50 pounds and had these big gnarly fangs hangin out.Shit,a damn .45/70 wasn't big enough if that thing would attack.
oh,and the second lesson learned was if you eat trees, you shit saw dust.

I never knew it was illegal to "probe" a lodge, It's been more than a decade since I did it when the land owners or buyers wanted to know if the beavers were still active or had all been trapped. Mapping beaver swamps/timber damage was a job I enjoyed anytime but summer.

Contact a Licensed Trapper

In case you don't want to fool with it yourself & don't mind others being on your property. The guy's land that I deer hunt on contacted a guy to trap coyotes and a few were removed within a couple of weeks. I've thought several times about getting my trapping license for predator species.
