Anybody dd a Jeep Wrangler

Our soft top is both quiet and does not leak. It does dump water on you when you open the door though. We run the soft top 8 months out of the year here in VA. The hard top is nice to be able to lock it up when Christmas shopping or a night out on the town taking in local bands.

Our JK is geared 3.73 with the 18" wheels(can't remember the tire size). We have the D-44LS rear axle, tow package, Nav/MyGiG, pdl/pw etc.

I'll bite.

... because they both leak like a sieve?

I run with a bunch of guys with JKs. ONE guy had a HARD TOP leak that was fixed under warranty. Anecdotal, but I'm talking about 8 to 10 JKs that I know of personally.

I DD a 09 JKUR on 40's. It isn't bad I only have an 8 mile ride to work so take it for what it's worth. I did just drive to Daytona and back in it without any complaints besides getting 12.5 MPG. Like others have said the soft top on the JK is just fine. Before I added the Rigid light bar I would say the soft top was almost as quiet as the hard top. I did have a leaky hardtop that was fixed under warranty. My JK is my 14th Jeep and I have to say it is one of my favorites. If I could get a little more power out of it I would be really happy. We like it so much we are thinking about buying a 10th anniversary Rubicon for my wife.

My Wife and I have an '11 JK unlimited stock that she daily drives and is our primary travel vehicle. We love it. She drives primarily in town and averages 18.5-19 mpg. On trips as varied as Boone or Gatlinburg or to Orlando we consistently get 21mpg. No leaks, rattles or other issues. Previously she daily drove an '05 Unlimited Rubicon, we had a hardtop leak (fixed under warranty) and never got over 17 mpg, typically around 14-15. The JK is a hard top as well. The 3.8 has been adequate but definitely dos not have an excess of power. Both are automatics. I am lusting after a '13 Rubicon Unlimited with the 3.6 though.

Probably doesn't help you much, but I dd'ed a '98 TJ 2.5l for around 3 years, and honestly I wish I still had it instead of the XJ...

It was a soft top, with half doors (also soft), and I had it up in Boone for most of that. I dunno about the JK, but honestly I didn't really have a ton of issues with noise on my TJ with the soft top. I wouldn't hesitate to DD a JK at all. The MPG's really are fairly standard with most SUV's that size, so no real worry there.

I dd my 04 Rubi on 35's and get about 16 mpg. After a long shift at the office, getting into my TJ is just like the mastercard commercial "Priceless".
