I don't typically watch futbol but every time the Cup rolls around I try and take in a few games. I find it fascinating the way the world reacts to the sport. As much as 'Muricans love to be #1 I find it odd that on one of the biggest stages that we couldn't care less. Granted there are a few die hards out there. A few friends of mine went to Jacksonville recently to watch the US warm up before heading to Brazil. It looks like quite a bit of fun.

Anyway, hopefully we can make a presence in the Group of Death but I doubt it. Hell, even our coach has put us down not once but twice! Regardless, I will watch to see how it all goes down. For those that are already watching, how 'bout those Spaniards

I've seen a little bit here and there, like when I was eating messican food for lunch yesterday. But as someone without cable and a rig in pieces, I don't have any time for tv.

I would like to go to the World Cup and spectate one day.

Id rather watch curling.......

There has been more talk at work about that starting kick than any of the matches...

I do think this is probably the most internationally "crazed" single sport, not clear why we are so ambivalent to it.

Because it is DUMB!

Ok, my wife watches it. She is a soccer nut. Played in college. I could care less about it, or the golf thing (us open?) in Pinehurst. Traffic was heavy heading toward URE today.

Missed the ecors race today. I would have liked to see that!

I don't see how it is dumb. What I see is a sport the US doesn't dominate therefore it's of no interest. Now before I get called on this our women's team is very good. However, just like the WNBA, no one cares unless their topless.

I don't watch sports unless they burn petroleum based fuel. Unless it's the Superbowl, somehow I find myself watching that every year.

Starting to watch a bit now. Some good match ups so far.

I'm going to the US Open tomorrow. Should be pretty fantastic!

So... they are all proud of the fact that 500 Americans are visiting a tournament that hundreds of thousands are showing up for, many of whom aren't even going to the games but just happy to be in the area to hang out?

I've watched some or all of 10 of the 11 games so far.

I played soccer for 20 years and football for 7 years and completely understand why the world goes crazy for one over the other. Pele on "the beautiful game" and Mandela on "soccer bringing nations together" and "leaders come and go, but sport will remain" is pretty awesome stuff.

That is just the AO sponsored travel group which they had to put a cap on since the founders were doing all of this in their free time away from day jobs. I know of a few that tried to get in on that trip (myself included) only to find out it had to be capped. It was a considerable value to travel with the AO group vs. make it to each US group play game on your own scheduling/transport. I am sure 2018 will sell out quickly as well. Turn the game on tonight...I am sure there will be more than 500 yanks dressed in red/white/blue raising hell in the stands.

Very few shits are also given about cricket, lacrosse, field hockey, tennis, or any of the other wildly popular around the world sports. No one cares because no one plays it. I don't dislike soccer but I am tired of "soccer fans" acting like everyone else is a classless redneck if they aren't interested. I personally think that any sport in which games end with scores of under 10 are boring to watch.

the sad thing is that I really wanted to watch the game tonight but instead I had to install 300' of new well pipe with a new pump so we'd have water. farkin' grown up responsibilities.

I'm sure you COULD have paid somebody else to do that... sounds to me like your priorities just aren't there
