maybe you missed my reference to "scratch built" as in near nothing to start with, no frame no body, maybe a grill! Or maybe alot of tube and some fiberglass that resignates just a bit of a classic ride. So a couple of small rectangle plates with numbers solves the whole question, I legally doubt it. I guess I'll have to make friends with the DMV if I ever get the chance to make a go at my build Ideas. Don't they make a cliff notes edition for this topic.damn, just get a VIN from a vehicle that you'll base your rig off of and build something and slap that VIN on it. Bodies are swapped and modified all of the time. Pre-77 shouldn't be an issue. Buy the title and VIN, register it, then modify however you want! Its not that difficult... The only issue I'd see is if the title and VIN haven't been registered for quite a long time
my point exactly I don't see you registering it that way and putting it on the road! Or can you? hmmmm. I think you should try it for our learning experience.hell, I got a CJ vin and title for my buggy and its scratch built 100%
