Anyone DD a Gladiator?

Just picked up a 2020 gladiator this weekend for my son's "reliable" ride. My bride appatently doesn't think the 85 CJ with a 50 something year old big block is reliable street transportation... Whatever.

Anyway this gladiator is great. Rides nice, comfy, gets 22mpg on the highway home from Raleigh. It's an overland with 60k miles and the 8 speed. I'm way more impressed than I thought i would be. My son hit some old dirt roads on the way home from church today and then then we hauled firewood all afternoon from the downed tree to the barn. I think this is the first time it's seen dirt, and had anything in the bed other than golf clubs. Id definitely daily one of these for what that's worth. Don't know if the overland package adds anything other than hoity toity interior stuff, but this rides and drives very well. Has newish 285/75 goodyears on it.

Finally found one that fit most of my checkboxes, so I traded the Volvo.

2021 Gladiator Sport S with LED light option, blind spot assistance, heated seats/steering wheel, 7 inch screen upgrade, factory lined bed. Had everything I wanted aside from proximity doors which I may be able to add myself. Love it so far. Needs new tires in the next 6 months or so. I'll probably run with 33's. I don't plan to lift it or anything.

Nice find. You will love it.

FWIW I just got back from MA. Left Wednesday and came back Sunday. I averaged 21MPG for the trip and it is roughly 800 miles each way and that also included a couple hundred miles driving around up there. It rode just as good as the Grand Cherokee ever did. Plus it came home loaded up with all kinds of stuff from me dad's house which never would have fit in the Grand. They got snow Wednesday and it handled it like a champ.

33's might be a little tight on a Sport S as it doesn't have the high clearance fenders the Rubicon and Mojave have. Should be fine for DD duties but if you hit some trails, they might rub a bit. I would look for some Rubi take off fenders to put on it.

Proximity door handles can be added, the wiring is there on a 2021. Go check out the threads on the Jeep Gladiator forum as many have done just that and Benny at All Mopar Parts actually put together a kit to do this.

I'll also add that if you feel the need for side steps, get the Rockslide Engineering power steps. They can act as rock sliders as well as steps. They are not cheap but IMHO, worth every penny.

I'm gonna check out the wiring tomorrow sometime. It's got power door locks so I'm thinking the needed electrical should be there.

Everything I've read points to 33s fitting without needing to lift, even the front level kit. I'll have to do a little more research. I'd rather not swap the fender flares because the ones on it are the paint matched ones.

It's got factory side steps which seem fairly good to me. I've already added the scuff guards to the doors. Got a Bulletpoint cell phone mount installed and a cheap Tyger tonneau until I want to drop the big money on a nicer one.

I'm running a Tyger tonneau and there is little difference between the Mopar tonneau and the Tyger. If you end up wanting the trail rails, the $150 Chinese Amazon rails are just as good and come with 2 additional tie down points.

Here is a link to the FSM. Could be useful to have. I can guarantee you I downloaded it. Jeep Gladiator - Google Drive

Sweet looking ride.
