Anyone in the Army??

Ok guys i Have some questions I know that i need to get everything in writing that the recruiter offers but should i make him write everything out and sign/date it??? bc i really dont want to get screwed over...

I have retired with over 24 years and as far as I know the only thing you are gonna get in writing is the job/MOS you sign up for. He cant guarentee Airborn until you take a PT test to see if you can pass the airborn physical. The only thing I am gonna say is go in and learn a trade. There isnt much call for jumping out of planes and shooting people once you get out. And before someone says REMF, I was an Airborn Ranger and instructor the whole time I was active.

been in the army / national guard for 13years i am a e-6 in forest city as an engineer and it transfers to the the real word i have been all over the world with the guard and made some really good friends sgtbriangreen is in my squad great friend/family its all in what you are looking to get out of the army good luck what ever you choose to do call brian he has alot of info

Pssshhh... travis. You cant stand up against this young pup!

Ive got a few ppl I know in the military, two in the army, three in the marines, and one in the air force.

If it were me, Id be air force. one of my best high school friends is in the army working on convoy trucks in afghanistan right now(third deployment), from what he tells me he would have been much happier at a base in the states.

my other friend in the air force just got out of his advanced training a few months ago and he had his pick for stations. he and his wife now live on base in okinawa, japan!
oh, he does fighter jet fabrication.

Can't you take the SAT and use that in leu of the ASVAB if the score is high enough? Thats how the USCG is for the OCS. Not sure about the Army...

I don't believe so. I was under the impression that for all military (although the USCG may be different) you have to take the ASVAB. I took it a year after I graduated from high school without studying any whatsoever (never even LOOKED at anything) and got a 74. That was back in '06/07 Sure, I could retake it and get a higher score, but my GT score is a 115 so there's really no point in retaking it. If your GT score isn't as high as you'd like it and you are in the Army (although I'm sure the other branches have similar schools) you can go to a school that will help bring that score up. It takes about 2 weeks to complete the course. I have several friends that have gone through the course.

Not really relevant to what the OP is asking but I found my asvab test results from 1982.

There were 6 individual tests back then.
Verbal
Math
Perceptual Speed
Mechanical
Trade Technical
Academic Ability

Do something you would enjoy. Sighn up for three and if you decide you like it you can reup. If you dont enjoy it you can get out or change your MOS.
