I was talking to a best friend of mine today about his super light weight sand and dune buggy build. He wants to run a Caddy motor with high HP and at least a front 44 and rear 9 inch. He wants the new ATLAS 4 speed with the gear ratio 10:1. :) I told him that was overkill. He wants to run the 46 inch Claws but i told him to run the 44x21x20 Super swamper TRUXUS STS's. I told him he would be the only 1 in the state with a atlas 4 speed if he could afford the 3K price tag.:bling:

On another note. He is wondering if anyone on here knows anything about MOPEDS. He lives in Greenville NC and wants my opinion but i told him i would post here and ask all of you for help. Does anyone have any info on these MOPEDS and know where to get them and what price tag they hold?? Thanks.

well

I know i got crazy and weird friends all over the USA but he is serious and wants imput and help so I am trying to do my best. Thanks. Any help?

PS. This is also my ECU friend that says you have not drank too much beer until you are puking FOAM so go figure.

10:1 reduction is GREAT for sand... :rolleyes:

Dune rig? in NC? Dude, just come right out and ask if it's for your pile.

X2 Most sand and dune buggy rails are 2wd with big paddle tires on the back and usually have nowhere close to a high powered caddy motor. I think he should be more worried about where the shrapnel from that 44/9 combo is going to go using a big caddy motor. Nonetheless if it's super light weight as you say why do you need 46" tires. Sounds to me more like a tube buggy rock rig being used in sand. With post like these I think you and your friends should just pull the pin on a hand grenade and tell everyone what happens afterwards

I wish i had nice parts like this but i dont guys.

I have 2 friends with big caddy motors and my friend down at ECU wants to build this sand dune buggy racer. I told him it is not practicle and i knew rich that the 10:1 would not be a good idea but hey. its his rig and his choice. We all get to choose what we want to run and build. I am just trying to help him out.

Any info on MOPEDS anyone??

Mopeds = :beer:

where is this "super light weight sand and dune buggy build" taking place in Greenville? i wanna see it...

Mopeds and scooters are quickly becoming the bane of my existence due to their increasing popularity. Wear a helmet and maintain the speedlimit, or call a cab.

Granted, I know mopeds can't do the speedlimit, which is one of many reasons I think they are extremely unsafe to everyone on the road.

Question is, what dunes are he planning on driving, and/or what beach sand needs all that... since you can only go what.. 15mph?25?

Funny you mention this

they are slow
also known as liquor cycles
great MPG if you have the time to get where ya wanna go
ya look really dorky on one with a full face helmet

I saw a " pack" of mopeds cruizin' down the road by my house like they were the "Hells Angels" :confused:

im thinking about putting a 4bt in my moped and pulling a greaser set up behind me

..but really mopeds are dangerous .. so i would tell him not to buy one

Combine the 2.
A moped with 10:1 :bling::driver:

Mopeds can't be that dangerous.

He lives near campus and will be moving to Arizona when his term is over. He wants a moped to ride and park at ECU and save on gas and hassle of car expenses. I think its a smart idea but i dont know where to tell him to get one or how much they run. I have never looked into it. Around here it wouldnt last 5 mins. someone would steal it. Getto is to close by for that kind of transportation here. you might get jumped or held up. But there he would be fine on it.

And his buildup is a work in progress. He is still collecting and deciding on parts. Thats why i told him 10:1 is too much. But i think it will make a magazine cover page when he is done with it. It will be a beautiful creation and I can't wait to ride in it out west when he gets settled in AZ.

Thanks for all the help and words of wisdom. I will relay it to him since he is a cheap a$$ and has no computer. he uses the schools. LOL!!!!

Ever been to az? Every other person has a tricked out sandrail, quad, boat, drag car or all four in their garage. He likely won't be that special. You sure have some wealthy friends though, or at least talk about them a lot.
