Anyone use an iPhone 6 Plus?

Our plan was the per phone data plan until about a year ago...Verizon actually changed it to a group data plan mid-contract without consent. Apparently there's a class action suit about that. Old plan was a cumulative 10gig of data...new is 12gig...same price, so we weren't too irritated.

As for iPad service...that's what we've done, use the phone as the hot spot. Main appeal to me for the $10/mo service was the independent device back up.
And that's the thing. They've been warning people for a couple of years that the old plans were going to be phased out and the new plans would be mandatory. I could have hung onto an unlimited data plan from the flip-phone days, but it was limited to 250 texts and 250 minutes talk. Not an option these days. I popped for unlimited talk/text everything plan and I have 6 gigs of data to burn. Cost less ultimately. It was 4 gig, but they gave us 2 more gigs and shaved the bill a little, too. Why? Generosity? Enough folks complained? Don't know, don't care. The new plans are often better than the old ones if you really look at them.

Our Verizon bill just went down by $60/mo because both of our phones were "paid off". We're on the old plan, where each phone has its own data allocation. It's cheaper than the current offerings if you only have two devices. Paying for internet service for an iPad is fucking stupid. You're carrying around a hot spot in your pocket already. Just pair the iPad with your phone and share the connection.

But yeah, save a couple hundred bucks (minimum) by buying the phone outright from somewhere other than Verizon and then putting it on your existing account. I broke my last phone (don't ever put them in your back pocket!), and bought a new one off Amazon. The new one cost a couple hundred bucks. The broken one cost me $660 because I paid for it through my Verizon account at $30/mo.

Whenever I've used my phone as a hotspot, the battery is drained in less then an hour. We tried that at cheerleading competitions (VERY long wait times between the girls' 2 minute performances). We got the Ipad Air2 and it will usually run the entire event streaming Disney without a hiccup. Awesome when the boy says, "I'm Bored". Also, I think the antenna may be better/bigger on it because it seems to get better reception in most places - especially since most locations are large metal boxes like event arenas, etc.
