Appliances

About a year ago bought Speed Queen, and apparently they’ve shifted to a 5yr warranty instead of lifetime (at least on what I bought)…so we’ll see.

Turns out I've apparently had the speed queen longer than I thought. I'm actually beyond 3years now. Why is 3yrs important, because parts and labor are actually on a limited 3yr warranty. So I have no clue what gets covered in years 3-5. Control board in the washing machine went out over the weekend. Only $300 for the control board and a pretty easy fix. But at this point, I've had such shit luck with new washers/dryers...I'm ready to go back to a set from the 80's/90's.

Well we went with Whirlpool for everything. They had a fridge we really liked and we went with the rest to match. We'll see how long they last lol.

agreed. Our washer & dryer has been going well, so far. If I could find an older King size set with an agitator, I'd pick it up, just for when this samsung dies

When I bought the house…5 years ago…Samsung fridge (about once a year have to put a new tstat and coil in to de-ice)…chews up the fan so I have replace that about every 2 years.

Annual fridge de-thaw/parts replacement…also had clogged drains this year. 10/10 would NOT recommend a Samsung fridge…

Decided to buy a GE washer…with the Veterans Day/Black Friday Month deals, it was a no brainer, saved $350 on this washer. We’ll see how it goes, but over the next year, figure I’ll see if I can’t find a worthy back up 25+ year old set…

Bumping this back up. LG washer took a piss all over my floor last week. Looks to be about 9-10 y/o so thinking it's probably time to just replace.

Likely just going to replace both washer and dryer.

Anybody have experience w/ gas dryers? I've always had electric so no experience but we love our gas cooktop & furnace so entertaining the idea of converting the dryer over to gas.

Stay the F away from Samsung. They suck. Drum split and tore up a bunch of clothes. And I’ve just about replaced everything but the case

Not at all what I was asking, but duly noted...thanks

All I know is the 20 something year old gas dryer that came with our house is still kicking. Pretty damn dead simple machine, a belt driven rotating drum with a gas fired heating element beside it.

Nothing to add, aside from the usual with adding gas appliances wrt keeping the volume right for pressure etc.
I do like the fact that even if power is out I can run the dryer on a regular genset. Not that I ever have.

I don't know of any real advantage that would make it worth it to convert unless you were already in the process of replacing it or something.
