Are any of you guys pilots?

I'd love to get my pilots license. I will never do it.
I've always wanted some kind of bush plane but no where to land around here. And then I realized if I had a plane I'd want to be able to take people and go do stuff, then realized I'm fat and so are my friends so most planes won't carry all of us and gear and full tank of fuel.... then I found turboprops and was like fuck ya that's what I need kodiak 100 or 900 but the 3 mil price tag for a used one just brought me back to the real world

Before any major decisions are made, this is pretty much truth. This hobby will make wheeling seem cheap. But, no regerts for me. It’s all about the journey.

My business partner built his STOL and has been flying it all over the place for years. Will take off and land in a football field sized area. He took lessons at the airfield near Murphy right next to the highway. Went on weekends, got it knocked out pretty quickly. Build your own light sport experimental and you can do your own maintenance and annuals saving a ton of $$$. He's about 45k into a plane worth around 100k.

Asked around at Burlington and I kept hearing RDU is the closest, still haven't met the helicopter pilots yet though to check with them directly.
My internet research reflected the same with regards to helicopters. The more I think about it, the less practical it seems that a heli pilot license would be. Even with a license, there would be no where local to rent a ship from. Even if I had the $$$ to rent.

If it were me, I’d just move. But wifey thinks that’s stoopid. 🤷‍♂️

You buy a helicopter. Then you don’t have to deal with traffic ever
