Doing the sas on my tacoma....wanna be different, and want to have plenty tie rod/drag link clearance on my taco(because im running the 7-leaf waggys short side forward). From what i understand the years with the forward facing pitman arms are 85-94 safari models. I also have come to understand they would mount on the inside of the frame.......yag i saw your post on pirate regarding the astro boxes. Any input or verification of the info i have would be great!

Thanks!

ya was just gonna say go search pbb for my pics... :) astro /safari are the same... exactly as pictured, box is basically a regular 700 series saginaw box (same as jeep, gm etc..) except some of the internals are different to allow the forward facing pitman and (reversed motion) outside/mounting is the same as the others..

can you drop the link in here...

I would go with a IFS Toyota box from a 2nd gen 4Runner and the steering shaft from a 1st gen and it is strong and all Toyota. My brother was Running 38x15.50 TSLs on his SAS 2nd Gen on the factory box with 1/4" plate frame reinforcements.
I was considering a yota box on my early bronco but I went with a 4x4x2 conversion from 2 F-150s. I took the internals from a 84 f150 2wd box and replaced the internal of a 78 f150 4x4 box. The results are easy quick ratio steering and strength.
