It all depends on your riding still. 4.3 may be the way to go for you though. 5:1 is too low IMO

I ran a 3.8 in my 4.0 with 39's. Loved it ,still was able to build wheel speed when needed. I had 5.13 gears also.even with a 4.0L and 39s?

yup...must've missed the manual part. sorry. I'd get as low as I could with a manual...or scrap it and get an auto.was that through an auto though?
so then should I drop the coin and build a 4.1 d300 or get the 4.3 atlas? I know people say they are close to price but I dont really consider $5 or so hundred dollars difference close. I guess I just need to crunch the numbers this afternoon!

Anyone running the atlas 4speed with an auto> im going to be running an AW4 which has a 2.80 first gear, 5.13 diffs with 39s...and later 42s. I am a little dissapointed with the gear choices of each case. the 5.44 case has 1.1, 2.0, 2.72, and 5.44..doesnt seem like the 2.0 and the 2.72 would be much difference in crawl ratio...29.1 and 39.1 with my setup. With the 5.44, my final ratio would be 78.1 and that should be fine for an auto. But it makes the other two gear choices seem useless. On the other hand, the 10.3 case has better ratios but the 10.3 is worthless with an auto and Im affraid the 3.8 will not be enough. Im starting to think I should just say to hell with it and run a 4.1 d300...Any input?
