Well my boy was born yesterday at 3:20pm. We knew there was a risk of needed surgery due to possibility of his bowels being outside his umbilical cord. Turns out that was the case, and he was transferred from Women's in Greensboro to Brenners in W-Salem. To keep it short and simple, it's been one wild ride of emotions. We thought the risk was really low and wasn't counting on dealing with this too much. He was born and 10 minutes later they took him away. Mom stayed in recovery and I went with him.

Well he had surgery today, it was 3.5 hours long, he's doing well but we will be here a while. Thought it would be 5 weeks but now saying 5-6 days. Spent a lot of time in prayer and seen God do some amazing things.

I started this for the main purpose of bragging on Women's hospital and Brenner. Between the two it's been an amazing experience really. They have communicated with us very well, show real care and compassion and have done everything they said they would. No surprises and no frustrations. I can't believe how well it's went. Gonna be a long road ahead, probably the longest week of my life. So far I couldn't ask for better service from either hospital.

I saw your post in the other thread. Glad to hear things are going to be OK.

Prayers for strength and peace.

It's one of the most trying things in the world knowing your newborn is being operated on.

Our son Jonas was born nearly 2 months early, he spent a month in the NICU at Brenner's. Fantastic place w/ fantastic people. One heck of a rough time for us.
Thoughts are with ya, and you're in good hands. Sounds like its going well.

Glad to hear he's doing good. And Mario's pizza on Cloverdale right near the hospital has great pizza.

Thanks everyone. It's been very rough to juggle being away from the wife, and away from my daughter to be with my son. Finally back with my wife and then got to see my daughter late last night. I took her back to see her baby brother, she didn't really understand what was going on.
I haven't had much appetite but have forced myself to eat here and there.

My prayers are with your family. Brenner's is an incredible hospital. My son still carries around the Hop on Pop stuffed bear that he calls "Dr. Boo Boo" from when he was there for failure to thrive.

Glad to hear everything is working out. My daughter spent the first 4 days of her life in the NICU at woman's and it was a trying time. But the doctors up there are great!

Praying everything keeps working out for ya!!

One of my wife's friends works at Brenners. It takes a special person with a strong passion to do that type of work.

Prayers sent for your family for a full and speedy recovery

Well we got here this morning and he's having some breathing trouble. It's not the worst thing but that the best. Hoping it gets better by lunch.
It's the hardest thing ever to see him struggle for breath.

You have my number. Hit me up, i can bring you guys a bite to eat or talk about anything to clear your head. Prayers and still coming your way from us
