Bad a** of the week

Ah yes, a settlement. I'm sure it was better than "we will just leave you the F alone and not destroy your business and property value."

Forceful municipalities are known for their benevolence.

Not really the point I was making...that’s fucked too (but if I recall correctly he agreed to a price and reneged). I just don’t see how pitching a fit, destroying property and assuming lord knows how much risk of collateral damage is heralded in one scenario and chastised in another. Sure, as a business owner I can say those fuckers got what they deserved...no different than the rioters and looters feel justified (not that I believe it) in what they’re doing as fighting perceived complicit oppression/racism. Either people are justified in destroying shit when they’ve been pushed over the edge, or they’re not.

I see it like the equivolence to MN locals JUST burning the lical police precinct building, and nothing else.

Its maybe not the right thing to do, but totally understandable. The only victims are related to the root problem.

Also, lets just be honest.
He gets extra bonus points just for doing it in a cool way.
Otherwise we'd never be talking about him

I can absolutely agree to that, still doesn’t make it right, but oddly satisfying, and still difficult to herald one as a hero and the other ‘animals’. And after doing some googling to refresh the memory, I remember the other problem I had with killdozer. Dude bought 2 acres for $42k, a couple years later agreed to sell for $250k (seems more than fair to me)...reneged on that deal, demanded $375k, and allegedly got as high as a million. To me the dude just got greedy, and I understand why the community black balled him. Hell, 9 months ago I demolished a building my company owns, the city essentially turned a blind eye, I was done in a week at nothing more than the cost of the demolition crew. A couple months pass, the city starts hassling me about shrubbery density not being thick enough as a border on my primary property. I basically tell them to get fucked. The second building I wanted to demolish, guess what, took 10 times longer to get done and cost me 4x as much due to proper permitting/review/authorized disposal/property analysis/etc. If you’re not willing to play ball and you’re going be a prick, don’t cry wolf.

Re-watched the "Tread" documentary on Netflix and still feel like ol boy is the George Floyd of the Don't Tread on Me movement. Right thought process, wrong actions, especially after being offered reasonable compensation.

I relate to that asshole a little too much

I'm really not following you on this and would like a more thorough explanation.

Long story short, he bought property for $42k, cool. Prior to re-zoning an offer to buy that property for $250k was agreed to. Heemeyer changed his mind, demanded $375k…which was agreed to. He reneged again and demanded $1mil. The town then re-zoned allowing for a concrete company to be built. One of his famous quotations is ‘I was willing to be reasonable until it was time to be unreasonable’…reneging on deals doesn’t sound very reasonable to me, it sounds greedy because he thought he had the zoning committee and construction company by the balls, when in reality they didn’t need to offer anything. To me, the guy isn’t a hero he’s propped up to be…he pitched a hissy fit because he didn’t get his way and has now become a poster child/hero for anti-.gov movements, in a similar way George Floyd has been painted a hero in the face of police brutality and equality. In my opinion, the wrong ‘hero’ was picked in both instances.

Edit…worth noting, my stance completely changes had he not agreed to and reneged on the deals, or hit them with the i don’t wanna sell it price first. And I also don’t know why an access road couldn’t have been built to prevent the entire situation.

The property was his unless he signed the papers, end of story. F'em. The world needs more Marvins

Sure…but I find that ironic given the general feeling surrounding sellers that renegotiate terms/sell an item out from under a guy on couple hundred/thousand dollar deals that are brought up on this very forum. But you’re right, it is/was in fact his, he didn’t sign the papers. So the other parties recognized the fact he didn’t want to play ball, functioned within the rules, found an alternate solution, so F’him. If you’re gonna screw people over on a deal, in my opinion, you lose the option of playing the victim when you, yourself, get screwed.

If it was man to man duking it out over buying his property, yeah, I'm with you. But when the long arm of the law steps in and starts picking winners and losers, that's when I'm all Killdozer. It is my personal belief that no one, big or small, should get a leg up from .gov.

And I agree with that, but from what I gather, before the re-zoning, it was man to man. Personally, if I get dicked around twice, I’m gonna start pulling out enough dick to win…and I don’t care if that’s attorneys or zoning boards, especially if it appears you’re just milking me for more money.

Its that time of year again.

Whether he was right or wrong, just an asshole or just dealing with them, ole boy sparks a conversation every year about the proper way to deal with your angst with the government...

wouldn't it be them on tread? or would that be yoda's line.
