Bad axle u-joint?

I was just under the truck measuring angles, spinning the front d/s, took a few pics…. I just found this and probably the source of the noise…. You’ll like this. Note the missing outside clip.

Thanks to all for the input, ideas and suggestions. Your help had me looking at everything helping me to eventually find what appears to be the problem!
