Tim has not returned any calls or messages.

I have called 3 times over the last week, each time leaving a polite message leaving my full work, cell and home numbers.

All 3 PM have all gone unanswered. After sending each one, the next morning his public profile indicated he had been on the site. Anyone can view your public profile by simply clicking on a users name.

I realize he works odd hours, but even a quick reply or a voice message on my answering machine acknowledging the situation would have sufficed.

I know that he knows about this thread I pm'd the link to him & he pm'd me back said he would take care of it.
I am surprised that he has not stepped up to attempt to make a communication.

I'm almost feeling at fault for some reason? This post is starting to dwell on me now. I feel like I let a brother down since I was the middle man in all of this. And I also feel as if this could tarnish any of my future dealings with other members that don't know me. I have a post active now for pick-ups / deliveries available and with Tim not chiming in, this ain't gaining me any gold stars for my lunch box...
Me and Tim sat and discussed and he explained that Yager was only going to use the gears. I had nothing to go by besides what Tim told me? We turned the hubs and checked pinion for slop. All felt good to me so we threw it in the back of the truck along with my axle I purchased. But we both sat and acknowledged that it was a tad rusty! Seemed like a ligit dude to me though? Maybe he didn't really pay much attention until we looked closer at it? And for the price to me for the intended purpose of what he said of what the axle was going to be used for - gear swap. along with the axle shafts as spares seemed fair. A gear install would have been over twice the amount was all I had to go buy.
It was dark and cold as whiz and it was a 4 hour long one way journey and I was a tad tired since I worked that day knowing it was going to be midnight before I got home so I admit my judgement was impaired. I went back and checked old PM's and saw nothing about reselling the remaining parts or anything as well. Or I definately would have thrown the red flag for ya Mike! Just seemed all way too ligit to me at the time? I had no idea the housing, backing plates and such were of any improtance...
I back everything that goes off my hands with exchange for money even if it bites me. I ended out GIVING money on a sell one time but gritted my teeth and went on.
I just hope this doesn't lead members on here to think I don't know a rusty axle from a hole in the ground...

6bang, no need to apologize for helping someone out!
IF you did what you thought you were supposed to do, I am sure Mike does not fault you.
As I read it his beef is two fold.
1. Pinion nut is rounded off so he can not disassemble, and
2. He is being avoided

your name wasn't mentioned, you stood up and said I am the third party.
That,... makes you a stand up guy

sounds like you got the word out and you've started the process with paypal. Now I'd concentrate on recouping those losses. Weld a nut to it and hope it holds. I'm sure the axle shafts will be ok as well. If the gears are ok the carrier probably is too. you might make it out of this alright.

First - Jermy IS a stand up guy, no questions asked. We've PMd, and were good, in fact I consider him more of a friend now than before... I don't hold him at fault in any way shape or form. How could I ? I didn't discuss my plans for the axle only him getting it and where/when I needed to pick it up at. I had met Jermy only 1 other time previously where he purchased something from me. He was a nice guy and offered to pick up this item as he was going there for something else. I kept his name out because he was simply providing transportation. Similar to if the item had been shipped via UPS or truck freighted. Thus I really didn't feel the need to go over anything 'just in case' it things weren't right..

As far as recouping losses and welding on a nut.. This is going in my tow rig where I will be driving it on trips towing my jeep. This axle really doesn't look like it's got 'a little over 100k' that it was sold as. The ring gear looks well warn. If it were in a 4x4 i probably wouldn't care..

As far as the using the rest of it. The price was set in Tim's initial PM even before we talked on the phone, so its not like the price was adjusted to reflect the poor overall condition of the axle. I value my time and I've spent way to much as it is dealing with this.

Mike has made it perfectly clear to me that I'm not at fault and that he sees no wrong in my acxtions and such. I just wanted to state the facts upon my part for everyone else that didn't know my side of the story.
Yea, me and Mike's all good. He even bent over backwards and did my another favor since this happened. I think me and him will benifit from our friendship even more-so in the future. This board is excellent for bondage.

Come on now.. helping each other on wrenching and such.:fuck-you: I don't think my wife would allow me any more bondage than that!

Bad choice of words. Sorry Yager.... :shaking:

man i want that on my sig too but i dont want to jump the banwagon

Tim called me this evening and explained the situation. As expected there was a reason for being out of contact for a while. I won't go into details but as we all would agree, family comes first..

Tim has offered to refund my money and we will work out returning the axle. This matter is closed and I look forward to meeting Tim in person and having a  around a campfire.

Glad it is working out
I had a feeling it would good luck in the future with the beer, campfire & bondage thing:lol::lol::lol:
