Well found out what my popping noise was my lower ball joint on the driver side is shot...any pointers before I take this job on? Probably just going to do the drivers side for now till I have cash to do the pass side. Can't be any worse that changing king pins on a d60 right? Anyways anything would help thanks!

I just did mine in my Excursion last week. It was a royal pain and took quite a while. I have done kingpins that were easier. The biggest pain was removing my unit bearings w/o destroying them. Once they were out, the job was not too bad at all. The lower joint took nearly 10 tons on my press to start moving.

Soak the unit bearing bolts and ball joints for a few days in PB or similar.

I'll give you a hand with it whenever you're ready. I've got the tools and a BFH. :D For what it's worth, the ones on my F150 were a piece of cake. The joints on the XJ were a little harder though the lower was no problem at all. Yours will be larger, but I don't think it should be too difficult.

I did the drivers side on my f350 d60 front. The secret to the unit bearings is loosen the bolt & then use a piece of 3/8" or 1/2" rod & tap the head of the unit bearing bolts. I had min off in 15 min. & it's original from 2000'. Took me about 3 hours start to finish. using a standard balljoint tool kit from HF. Had to make a receiver (short piece of pipe I had laying around) for the ball joint on the bottom of the knuckle.

Well I guess it will have to wait till after this ure trip coming up... I guess I'm just going to do the driver side for now ill get the parts and ill give u a call for some help chris
