Looking at some land that has a 1937 single story farmhouse, 1100sqft, that is in right poor condition. Anybody have a ballpark idea of cost to demo and haul away? Siding looks like masonite, but I'd figure possibility of lead paint and asbestos somewhere in there.

A friend of mine just bid on a similar job and it was 6K.He said about half of that was disposal of the asbestos siding. With that bein said those are TN prices, and Im sure NC will have some kind of hoops to jump thru and special permits to buy.

I was going to say about 6500+ depending on lead and asbestos.

Don't forget to obtain a demo permit especially if there is asbestos. Not sure what tipping fees are for asbestos but they usually ask for the permit when disposing of asbestos.

I was told 6000 for our old house. I had time and ended up tearing it down by hand. This allowed me to reclaim a good bit of material. You may want to find someone who tears down old buildings to reclaim material. There seems to be a market for it. Just a thought...

You can deal with the asbestos yourself if you follow a couple rules. Check local listings.

Somebody on here was looking for houses/barns to tear down a few weeks ago.

Contact your local FD about using it as a training burn. All that will be left if the foundation to clean up.
A few years ago with the fd, we were scheduled to have a training fire with 2 old houses. The inspectors wouldn't let the home owner donate the houses until asbestos and lead paint were removed. It was very expensive and the houses are still standing today. That was in Gaston Co.

We've had similar results here. The homeowner removed the siding or the content% was low enough that EPA let us burn.

As stated before, check your local listings!

careful with dealing with asbestos, some places have ordinances against people not qualified to move it messing with it.

You would be crazy to burn it or pay to get it demolished. If it's from the thirtys I'm sure it has good bones and carpenters pay good money for old wood. You could make a pretty penny you will just have to find the right guy

There Is a market for Reclaimed Lumber now. Just have to find the guy. And yes there has been a barnwood builder on here, looking.
As a former Volunteer Fireman, I was thinking about the burn, but wondered if the New Regs has put a damper on that. Seems So!
