Such poorly worded question and answers too. But yes, it's because of coal rolling. I got a coal rolling tune put on my car about a month ago, and fuel mileage is up about 10% (no joke).

Ive never had one that got better than a gasser. The same maybe but not better.

WTF are you buying?
I've always ran 7.3 ps's. It's mostly my fault cause I idle them more than i probably should and run 75/80 instead of 65/70. Plus one of em is a dually.Imo anybody who says they are getting over 20/22 mpg in a diesel is full of shit.

And I know they aren't as efficient as the newer stuff

Them magic cummins...they get 30 pulling 15k enclosed trailers up black mountain at 75

The best mileage I have ever gotten in my 01 RAM, 2500, 4x4, Quad cab, 5spd, SRW, Cummins is 19.5 empty bed and no trailer, and 13.9 towing my single car hauler with Samurai. I don't go searching this stuff out on the internet, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear of someone in a 2x4 regular cab Ram with Cummins getting 22-25mpg.

I had a 2wd 96 cc 350 w the five speed, about as basic as you can get.I only got 20 out of it a time or two,Both my trucks now are autos and I know that hurts the mpg,esp in stop and go traffic w a trailer.

I cant ever get an exact mileage out of mine due to idling and other reasons but I know its not 20.My work truck is ext cab 4wd w 3:55's and I have a CC dually w 3:73's.The WT seems to be better on fuel.

Its that 200 HP air filter they put on em.

My 05 CTD has knocked out a hand calculated 21.8mpg. made a few trips to FL and back and it averaged 19.3-19.4 . It 6speed and geared 3:73 on 35s with a corrected speedo.

Seriously? So I reckon I shouldn't be looking at getting a 6.0...? Might as well just get a gas f150 lol

Good luck!!

The reason I HAVE a 6.0 dually is because it was SO much cheaper than an F150/1500 of any mfg.

The executives of the world now feel they need a 1/2 ton 4x4 to accentuate their Hardley-ever-runs on trips to the coffee shop for unicorn latte's. My 2005 5 yr old CC 4x4 SB DRW 6 speed 6.0 was $19.5K and I've had it 7 years now. I got it with 75k on the clock. I got about 19mpg driving it back from Indiana (flew up to buy it sight unseen) but that was bone stock and me driving the speed limit. I get an average of 15 around town and 17 with nothing behind it on the hiway. I once got 21 coming HOME from boone and driving the speed limit.

What kills ME is I have a lead foot, and ANYTHING over 67mph and you're facing 12-14mpg empty or loaded with a slide-in and pulling the Jeep. Once that tach crests 2050 my mileage goes to shit. Now, if I keep it under 2k I can see the backside of these magical Cummins bullshit numbers but I have to feed the pistons with a syringe to get that kind of number.

Thats pretty cool seeing as how the going rate these days is 13k to 18k for 200k+

Yup...but it's "chicken teeth"

SHORT bed Dually with a manual trans. It sat at the dealer for quite a while. I negotiated it down from $22K and I think it sat at a higher price than that for a while.
