About a month ago I got word that a friend of mine had died.He was a older guy and he did all my gear set ups.He had Leukemia and had been takin kemo,I had talked to him about two weeks earlier and he was taklin about buying some new Iroks for his EB so I thought he was doin better.Back when the flu bug was goin around so bad he got it and it turned into pneumonia,he lasted about 4 days.My fil has been sick for the better part of a month now and they finally admitted him in to he hospital this past week for three days, still don't know whats wrong w him.I got up this morning and saw that another buddy of mine had died from an apparent heart attack. His wife came home from work Fri night to find him dead in the living room floor.I've got to go in the morning for a MRI on my shoulder, they're sayin I need rotator cuff surg,my dad has his done about two weeks ago. From a work stand point I cant afford to be down for 12 weeks, but I cant really afford to put it off either.Getting old sucks.

I feel your pain, literally. I am having shoulder surgery this Thursday for a double tear in my rotator cuff. Plan on not being 100% until a year to year and a half. I am only getting around 2 hours of sleep a night due to how bad my shoulder hurts. Good luck!!

My rotator cuff has been torn for almost 4 years now. Can't afford the down time from work. I feel your pain there.

And take comfort in knowing that your friends are no longer suffering here on earth and are now in a better place. You will see them again one day.

Tonyas about to quit her job and that's gonna leave us in ins limbo for a while otherwise Id put it off till next winter. My buddy that died Fri has been a body man for 30+ years and had COPD bad.He wont have to deal w that anymore.I know that if your lucky enuf to see an old age this is part of it but it don't make me like it any better.

Hope it gets better from here. I had two shoulder surgeries back to back a few years ago. It would have been awful hard if I worked for myself.

I have several tubes of the Volterin gel myself. Stuff works pretty decent but when it comes to rotator not gonna help much. I've had several rounds of meds shot into the joint and it helps for a couple weeks then I am back to square one again. Right now I can't even raise my right arm! The funny thing is I am so right handed I don't even know how I am going to make it. Told my doc that if I use my left hand to take a leak it's like a stranger is doing it. He told me to get aquatinted!

Doctor gave me pensaid(spelling) cream. It is like a foam almost. It helps some. I don't like taking pain medication and over the counter stuff wasn't touching it. I can't take my left arm above 90° without severe pain but I've almost learned to live with it. Luck for me I'm right handed.

Worst part for me has been sleeping. My entire life I slept on my left side and I have played hell adjusting to sleeping on my right side.

Sorry to hear about your friends passing, and the pain your in its sad a man can't have things taken Care of like surgery, illness bc you have to keep up with work We'll add y'all in our prayers!

"this too, shall pass."
I know it's not much comfort, but it's true. Many times in life we feel overwhelmed and like it's all coming down at one time. But it will get better. The clouds will disperse. Your in all of our thoughts! Sending good vibes man!

Sorry to hear of all of the loss. The older we get, the more things start looking bad, and the closer to mortality we feel. With every friend diagnosed you start paying more attention to sharp pains and aches and wondering "am I next"

To top it all off, if there's even a HINT of depression in the mix it's a wonder you wake up at ALL to face a new day.

Hopefully the clouds will part and you'll find that ray of sunshine that will bring you a little hope this week.

At any rate, we'll keep you and the family in our prayers!

As said things will get better, and that whatever is going on to remember what motivates you to keep going.

Yep. A year and a half is easily how long it'll take.

Honestly...if it's torn up much, it'll never be "right" again. I've had my right shoulder done twice now. Needs it again. Not going to bother with it. The level to which it heals isn't worth my right side being essentially worthless for most of the next year afterwards.
