Best bait for catching mice?

With those cheapo mouse traps you can file down the mechanism sort of like doing a trigger job to a gun so that they will snap shut a lot easier. I have a buddy that had thay same problem and he filed it down and had a lot higher success rate
 
Ok there is a new twist. For the last 2 days I have been finding empty traps with little wet footprints everywhere. Some of the prints went under the fridge so I set up a game camera last night. Here is the only pic it took. I can see the creature in the center of the photo but I can't tell what it is.
What could the wet prints be coming from?

So last night I woke up at 2am to a rustling sound coming from the kitchen. I snuck into the kitchen real quiet and saw my box of lucky charms moving. I peered into the box and this is what I saw!

Then, as Im already in disbelief, I check the traps and discover this!!

He was stil alive. Has anyone ever heard of toads stealing food from a house before??

ain't toads one of the biblical plagues? End of time supposed to be dec. of this year and it might be starting in that kitchen.

I thought about it.................but did'nt want to go there...................... what with the upcoming election, and the old Aztec/Myan/Nostrodamas professies too !?? :eek::lol:o_O
 
Something is still cleaning the traps and I found the fridge door cracked this morning. Surely toads can't open a fridge door...


Time to set the game camera again.

I don't think mice can open a fridge door either.
Sounds like you have rampant toddler in the house.
 
This might sound funny but it TOTALLY works. My Bro in law was having problems with them in his garage...he set traps and everything, never worked. So I had the idea of going old school. I set up a little shoe box with a stick and a few pieces of dog food inside the box. I would let the mice take 1 or 2 pieces of food and then on the last one, Id pull the stick down with fishing line and it got them everytime. I think I ended up catching about 6 mice in less than 30 min.

dug up an old thread.....11 thirty on a Monday. To early to be drinking I suppose but I'm going hunting and need supplies.

So we have had some issues with mice in our garage recently and bird food and a trap seems to work.
Although I have not caught one with that spin trap yet... them seem to know what that thing is. I still have them set, but nothing yet.

the catch a release trap seems to work best for me, but its just a hassle to go and take the trap up the street in the mornings before work.
 
Decon #1, old school snap traps tuned ^^ with crunchy PB or applied on a small piece of cotton #2, almost empty trash can two pieces of dog food in the bottom and a paint stick as a jumping board. Depending on condition of house or cabin 22 rifle or pistol, for worse shots 410. Bigger "mice" aka "rats" bigger traps same bait, sometimes have to screw the traps to the floor! Skunks really like skittles. A red rubber ball the size of a quarter for fuzzy tailed rats, don't know why, it works. Bears seem to like empty trash cans, haven't tried to catch one of those yet, figured my son wanted a father for a while longer!
 
A few years ago I kept my bags of deer corn in an old building I have. The mice found it and multiplied like crazy before I even realized it. So when I got bored I would go sit in there on a bucket with a 22 pistol with some rat shot and a few cold beers and shoot them. Good times lol.
