Best BBQ--Heads up

Trinity/high point area for me and I'm a huge BBQ Joes fan. Just saw where Stameys was voted number one, I disagree. Every time I have long distance customers or vendors in town they want to go to Stameys.
On Friday BBQ Joes has a smoked BBQ pork rib that is so tender in just falls apart and melts in your mouth.

I wouldn't brag about the land of Maurice's BBQ.
Mustard sauce. It's like they tried too hard to think of something else....
Link up with me and spend a weekend at Shealys, Hudson's, Docs, and Big Ts. Clean out your refrigerator beforehand for all the take home to-go boxes. ;)

Speedy's.

On the topic of bad BBQ, I live in Lexington, not from there, just live there, and ever since I moved there I have heard how good the BBQ is there and of course there is that dumb festival every October. I am gonna say this and yall can tar and feather me if you wish, but Lexington BBQ blows. If I have to eat pulled pork BBQ, at least do it Eastern Carolina style instead of this red shit. Rant over.
Have you been to the Monk in Lexington? I love the large sliced plate. It doesnt need sauce its so good!

Kyle Fletchers in Gastonia. Smoked and minced. Put your own sauce on or none at all. I just add some Texas pete or Tabasco.

I eat Bbq wherever possible when traveling and it amazes me how many people can make bad Bbq!

IMO JD's Smokehouse is #1. I've been searching for some good BBQ and they are it. I got the brisket and pulled pork combo. Servings are very generous and staff is very friendly. The brisket had that nice pink smoke ring and fell apart when trying to get a hold of it.:)

Anyone else like the place? They are in Rutherford college area and are only open thurs-sat.

Need to go on across the river, Hog Wild is even better.

Mustard or vinegar based only

Good one! You should have a comedy special! That's like saying the best Bourbon is from Canada...or the best Pizza is from Wyoming.
Y'all NC people get most stuff right with the exception of bathrooms and BBQ. I ain't hatin. We're your little brothers down south that got yalls back.

And make better BBQ :flipoff2:

If anyone is headed from Charlotte to uwharrie, stop and get a bbq plate at Triple J in midland (albemarle rd & 601). It gives the smoke pit good competition. However, smoke pit has really good sides.

That's less than 4 miles from the house and I haven't tried it yet. Guess I need to stop this week. Do wish they had sit down. Odd that the last restaurant there was allowed to.

They put some picnic tables outside, but I don't even sit at my own picnic table when it's 150 degrees outside. We get a plate about once a week. They also catered a birthday party for us last weekend (75 people). It was a big hit.

When I think of BBQ, I am thinking smoked pork ribs. The best ones that I have had in NC are from a place called Bandana's in Boone, NC. Not sure if it is a local or a chain though but that is the only one I have ever seen.
Bandanas sold out and is now mckeethan brothers. It's ok. Last time we went the staff basically said they rather us eat elsewhere lol.

Have they gotten better since they opened? We tried them out a few weeks after they opened and I wasn't all that impressed. It was good but nothing to write home about. Now the Smoke Pit in Concord is awesome, love their corn bread.

There are several good BBQ places around, but most of time I just fire up the smoker ahead of time and smoke my own.

12 Bones and Luellas are good Asheville spots. I read a article about a new place in Asheville where duder cooks with wood and does whole pig, I'll pay to try that.

Ate there when it opened and still eat from there. Only thing we don't like is the lack of options. You only get bbq.

12 bones is way over rated since Obama likes to go there that rules me out. Buxton Hall is the whole hog joint in Asheville. I've heard it's very good but I haven't made it there to check it out for my self. Do your self a favor and stay away from Bonfire BBQ on Patton Ave in Asheville. They use a dehydrator instead of a smoker to cook there meat I think. It is the driest BBQ I have ever had in my life.
