The other thread on muscle cars got me thinking about this, I spend about 1 hour or so on I 85 everyday.
I drove a vette for 10 years, tickets galore. Then drove an 95 Impala SS for a few years, people would just move right over when I came up behind them on the interstate, thought I was the law, it was awesome. Sold it to someone on here about 8 years ago, still miss it. I'm thinking of getting a used silver Charger, it'd be like the Impala all over again, I'd just have to stay within a 5 year range of current HP or police vehicles?

Driving my wife's turbo bug now as a daily till gas drops again, that thing sails down the interstate and nobody pays it any attention, I think dark colors help you out to. Bright red or yellow and tickets a plenty!

I see F350's hauling butt all the time and never pulled, I guess they just look slow from a HP view sitting on the ramp.

Yeah, red and yellow are bad unless you drive like grandma (not my grandma, though...). All Chargers seem to be cops... or have giant rims.

Saw an unmarked red charger with someone pulled over this past week. I think the HP is branching out in the color department now.

I think this girl in hickory has your idea, i saw a white charger with the push bar on the front , i was like oh sh*t. got over and when it passed was a girl driving with chick stuff hanging from the mirror , i was like man she has an idea there.

They can also be bad thing, one of my friends was driving his silver charger on the highway and the car in front of him slowed down tremendously (thinking he was a cop) and caused a collision.

nobody pays attention as I drive past.

It's almost funny how much less attention I get driving the Lincoln than I do any of my 'arrest me red' vehicles or sports cars.

Side question about cop cars. I was told once (so it must be true) that unmarked cars can only be unmarked for so long before they get switched out or 'painted'. I have no clue if there is any validation to that...but if there is, I think Lexington and Salisbury PD have found a loop hole. I'm finding it more and more common to see white, seemingly unmarked, chargers with people pulled over. However, in just the right light, you can logos and stripes painted/taped in a pearl white. So they're technically marked, but no one will ever readily recognize the markings.

The best stealth car is a Prius. Everybody knows they only go the speed limit, and they only drive in the left lane!

I have a dirty, dinged up, maroon 98 S10 and rarely drive the speed limit even around town, I also do 45/60 mins. roundtrip on I40 to work and have never been pulled for speeding. I have passed police and sheriffs in town and on backroads going 15/20 over, and still not been pulled, I think the truck just looks like it's going slower. The civilan Chargers always make me move over or slowdown on the interstate too, they are easy to spot from a distance behind or infront. The HP has a confiscated Z06 or 7 Corvette they patrol the interstate w in Johnston Co. I believe, and I once saw a guy come off an onramp and blow by the Vette ( infront of me ) about 90 one day.......... he got a big, bright, flashing suprise in about 3 secs.!!

i have a customer with an ex- hp charger and i drive it home every once in awhile, while it's great on the highway, once you hit a side road it sucks, everyone is all of a sudden going 10 mph under the speed limit.
as far as unmarked cars, i just did an 08 taurus that was as plain jane as it gets and it was an undercover car.

If you flashed the headlights they'd probly get out of the way!! :D

I feel like I am invisible in a white Camry and it's Awesome! Think about it, the number 1 selling car in america that year. I lose the thing at the grocery store 2 out of 3 times.

that is a serious offense.
when i worked at jakes in durham, they had the police account, so we fixed a lot of police cars. one day i went for a test drive and one of the r&r guys decided to follow me in a police car. he lit me up and i knew it was him so i didn't stop, well about 2 miles later a real durham cop lit him as we passed him on a side road. when he pulled over he gave the cop some excuse about the trans acting up whenever they had the strobes on, i had turned around and gotten out of the car i was driving and was going to make up my own excuse and the cop told me it was ok because he had already explained. he said it was the same charge as impersonating an officer.

Newish silver Chevy Impala. I see these everywhere and nobody pays them any attention.

I couldn't go with the whole cop car look alike theory. I might burst a blood vessel when I get behind two cars on the interstate who won't get out of the way because they think I'm a cop or on a two lane road where they have no where to go but slow.

I do!!............and transman I ment the headlights not the blue lights. It is legal to flash headlights isn't it?? I hope so cause I do it all the time at folks comin at me on 2 lane roads w their highbeams on. I've also had it done to me from cars in my mirror, in the fast lane on I-40. I remember a few years ago seeing a guy in a black Crown Vic on I-40 alot and saw him pumpimg gas one day and was sure he was not an officer though his car looked like an x police car complete w tinted windows and a pillar mounted spotlight. He had a dark blue ballcap on his dash really milking the look of a real lawman from a distance!! The Crown Vics might be another sleeper, they still get my attention every time!!

I like Hurley's rig. Anybody else notice it's a 3/4 ton, reg cab, SHORT bed? :D There's a guy around here that has the same deal with a gold colored 2005 common rail Dodge. The dead giveaway on it are the 31x18.50 Sportmans under it and the cab support bars.... it's about 950 hp.

Honestly, a 99-06 (I prefer 99-02) Silverado. They make a sheet load of them and I see them everywhere! They're pretty good on gas, parts are easy to get, and the LSx style motors are amazing. The truck in my sig might not look fast, but it's hurt several people's feeling already :driver: I'd look for a reg cab, long bed, 5 speed truck. It'll have a 4.8 in it. You could always swap it out for a 6.0, or just go all out with the 4.8. It's a short stroke motor, but they'll make some power up above 3000 rpm. I could get 20mpg out of mine.

Come to think of it, all of my trucks are sleepers. Nobody expects the K30 to haul ass like it does, nor the Silverado. The next project is my 85 S10 with the 4.8 out of my Silverado and a couple of turbos

Doppleganger of my truck, with twice as much power:

Apparrently it would break traction at 90, but I assume the smoke might negate the sleeperness

Also... LSx Volvo wagons (like Pheery's old unit)

Toyota pickup 4x4 lifted,33's or bigger. Haven't ever been pulled over and I'll admit I don't go the speed limit.. Been told it looks like they move slower even at 55mph. The Lexus sc400 I had Got me a ticket in Chesnee SC coming back onto hwy 221. I was wearing a hat (somethin i rarely do) Come around the corner and barely got past freeman core & block. Got me for 45 in a 25 :( 88$ he reduced it to 35. Nicest cop I ever met btw

Technically you are supposed to flash your high beams and tap the horn before you start to move around someone when passing on a two lane, but no one does. So no flashing your high beams isn't illeagal.
