So.....
As the title says, what would you buy with a budget of ten grand.
Seems I have hit my 9th mid life crisis , and for some reason feel the need to own a sports car.
Looking for the best bang for the buck.

In the running so far...

2007-2008 BMW 335i
Honda S2000
Early E46 M3
Nissan Z32 twin turbo
C5, although I have a deep hatred for vettes after owning a 84 C4 with the Z51 package.

Any others I should consider?????

2009 or 2010 BMW 335d (diesel) with a tune and deletes from BPC in Raleigh. Only downside is auto trans only. But it will be more reliable than a 335i. I just sold mine last month after having it 2 years. I already want another, but I have a house to build first.

I had an 08 MINI Cooper S and it drove like a full blown adult go-kart. Push the sport mode button and it really comes alive. Only mod was a K&N cold air intake so I could hear the blow off valve. That thing was on rails!!

That is a good bang for the buck car, I have heard they make stupid torque with bolt ons.
But I really want a straight drive.....

Mustang GT with straight cross over pipes. Sleeveless jean jacket, cut off jean shorts with a mullet wig. Marlboro Red and and Icehouse.

That should run you bout $4k and you can mullet cruise that thing across the country for one heck of a Joe Dirt road trip!

Nothing useful to add. I like 03-04 Cobras and LS1 Powered cars but not many are in that budget. 98+ Camaros had fun LS1s but we’re heavy.

I have driven several of the Cooper S.
Both super charged and turbo.
Fun car for sure, I just can't wrap my head around having front wheel drive.

Guess I am really picky.......

I would rather cut my wang off and throw it off the edge of the grand canyon, than own a pony car.
But thanks for the suggestion.....

Subie wrx (awd count as fwd?)

I have thought about those....
My buddy had one, and it handled amazing on the shit roads around here.
I need to do research on the different generations and figure out what would be in my budget.
Thanks for the suggestion

CTS-V...??

Yep 04 I believe is ls1, 05+ is ls2. Available in 6 speed.

In that range I'd be looking at a nice built 98-02 camaro, GTO, or C5.

IIRC the LS2's respond better to bolt ons.
My brother had an C5 with full bolt ons and exhaust, and it ran well.
No where near his C6 with an A&A blower, heads and cam.
It didn't have traction untill around 90 mph....

You’ll only find a sedan for anywhere close to your target price.

I’d still have the ctsv at the top of the list. Nothing like a sedan with a bad ass ls3

I have no idea what years they made the wagon, guessing it was the later generation?

I had a g8 gt with the ls2 (L76). It was a lot of fun in stock form. Unfortunately the trans went out before I got to play with it.

It’s not a full blown sports car, but I like the newer caprice cop cars. 355 hp 6.0 sounds fun. Could probably buy it and have enough funds left for some go faster parts.

Bonus points if you get one with a spotlight.

If you would consider a WRX then look at the competitor mitsubishi EVO. I've rode and drove several and they are fun.

If your looking at sedan or wagon don't forget about a Charger or Magnum. They like bolt ons also. Only problem is auto only.

Same car as the G8.
