Guess i'll start a build thread. Don't expect it to go quick. Modifications happen as money allows.

First thing that needed to happen was a bunch of sanding to get rid of some rust. Decided to just stick with flat black. I can keep a can in the tool box to touch up any rock rash and stop rust before it starts.

You can also see in the pic where we got the 15k ramsey mounted to the frame. some trimming of the grill was required.

Installed some 35 inch mud tires (courtesy of insanemoto) but those are now just temporary thanks to this find.............

Dana 60 Full Float with 4.10 gears. i'll get pics as it goes in.

Thats it for now.....anyone wanna donate a D60 front?

I think you need to paint it red & make it big:flipoff2:

Always a fan of bronco builds. What size tires are you planning? If you're going no bigger than 37's, I'd leave the 44 up front. Either leave it open with stock shafts, or lock it up and throw in some chromos and upgraded u-joints. I'm running a 60 rear (4.56's, spool, stock shafts) and a built 44 (lockrite, chromos, x-joints) on 37's and it's been working well for me. If you're going to bigger tires (38+), I'd definitely roll with a 60 front and make sure to upgrade your rear shafts. Also, I'd highly recommend the Cage radius arms and progressive rate coils for the front end, too. Very flexy.

Thanks for the info Johnski. i dont plan on running any bigger than 36-37" tires. Im probably just going to do a 8 lug conversion given that its financially feasible. Ive looked at the cage arms, they are nice.

How does your short wheelbase like that spool?

Just like any spool, it sucks on the street, but it sees the road about once a week and on the way to the trails. I love it on the trails. No issues with turning radius in the dirt.

Here's a quick comparo of Cage coils and the Deaver Superflex coils. Both mine and my buddies rig (Roughshod on this forum) are running cage arms and 37's. I've got Deavers, he's got the Cage coils. I believe the Cage coils are a bit more pricey. As for ride, the cage springs are more forgiving. As for flex, well, see for yourself...

Im working on getting another c6 (thanks Franklin) to install. This one is bleeding pretty bad. Hopefully the one i'm getting will work long enough for me to learn how to rebuild this one.

Also, the carburetor is probably coming off this weekend for a rebuild, another learning process for me.

Anyone know what yoke size a dana 60 rear has (1995 FF)

I had a spool in the rear of my 79 had no problems at all also ran 38 tsls on stock shafts and 4.56 gears with the rear spool

Didn't Franklin's C6 have a 203 behind it? It's not a direct swap.

Yes it did. I didnt know there was a difference. What is the diff? I gave it to him since i am moving but my back sure is paying the bill:shaking:

The ones with 203s were shorter to keep the overall driveline length the same as a C6/205. He can swap it in, but he'll have to build new shafts or swap tcases.

i have to get new d-shafts anyway because if the dana 60 :flipoff2:

a shorter drive line in a bronco is not a problem. this is good news, thanks for the heads up. :bounce2:

No problem man. You needed it and I didnt. I got if free so you did as well. Its all about Karma and I need to retain my "Longest Bronco Build Ever" crown. :flipoff2:

just some ideas im floating....

found a CJ5 tub for $75 bucks.

the jeep is a bit rusty and would need lots of trimming and cutting, but i think im gonna ditch that heavy full size body for the lighter CJ body.

It would also give me a the ability to pull the tranny from the top which should make it easier.

tail shaft in the new tranny is 3 inches shorter, so when i swap in the D60, i think im gonna move it forward 3 inches, try to get everything to fit the body a little better.

i'll provide pics as progress allows.

Wait - so you're gonna put a CJ5 body on a full size bronco frame/drivetrain? Am I missing something?

lol, no...i am...about 18 inches of body!

its going to be the beggining stages of a budget buggy.

I was going to do the same but with a YJ tub. There is a good bit of frame hanging out the back. I was just gonna rock it like that with a spare tire mounted back there. Then I changed plans and got another toyota

I couldn't justify linking the back at that point and I didn't think tit would be such an evesore with a tilted 38"tire mounted back there. You might also be able to get a jerry can in there too. You would still have full room for a back seat and storage.

it may also provide a good place to put a radiator and electric fan in the rear.

You could do that but the jeep has a pretty long hood. I would leave it in the front for ease of bleeding the system. I don't have enough room in the front so I have to run mine in the back.

I just surprised the frame and body width would be anywhere close to lining up, I'd expect the Bronco frame to be sticking out the sides, are they really that narrow? Never really looked.
