BigRedB2's Black Bronco

It actually works out pretty good.

You could do that but the jeep has a pretty long hood. I would leave it in the front for ease of bleeding the system. I don't have enough room in the front so I have to run mine in the back.

true. all i will have is the tub. i will need to locate a hood, so that stuff can be worked out later.

I just surprised the frame and body width would be anywhere close to lining up, I'd expect the Bronco frame to be sticking out the sides, are they really that narrow? Never really looked.

yeah, i was surpised at how narrow they are. its been a while since i measured but the rails are only 30 something inches apart. my ramsey winch just barely fits between them.

:flipoff2:Get back to work

haha I think I have some in my phone bucket

Nah I checked and I don't have them

im thinking its going to look something slightly uglier than this....

No offense, but if you just slap a jeep body on a bronco frame, it won't look nearly as good as either of those. especially if you keep the rear leafs and have a god awful frame overhang in the rear.

yeah...im fully aware this project is going to start out ugly as hell.

That full size body is just too big and heavy and it just doesnt have the "feel" that i like. i'll slap the cj tub on and as time and money allows i'll chip away at stuff and hopefully have a nice buggy one day.

project motto: budget build/function over form

the rear was going to be linked on mine though...

i havent ruled that out. I do need to decide how i wanna get the D60 rear under it. leaves woud be simple, but to go ahead and link it would probably help with the body mounting.

yup..its gonna be ugly as hell. this guy extended his stock CJ frame.....but you get the picture.

From what i am reading i can use a CJ7 hood and gain a few more inches in the front for engine clearances. Which gives me the ability to set the tub a little bt further back on the frame.

Working it all out in my head, i know things change when you go to do the actual work, but i think this is actually going to come together fairly nice. hopefully i will get to wheel it next season.

I say drop all the weight you can by removing everything you can...narrow the front and rear sheetmetal....

It will look cool, take some weight away, change the feel and look 10x better than a little jeep body on a big ass frame!

Hell ditch the doors,hood...cut the top off cage it...BEAT IT:flipoff2:

that would be too easy.

actually, so much need to be done on the bronco, i think i might rather just start with an empty tub and go from there.

the cj tub isnt my first choice, but i cant find an early bronco tub for $75.00.

have seriously considered a ranger cab, i kinda wanna keep something vintage though.

You got the Jeep body already, correct?

I say use it. I think they look best stretched out like spraypaintman did his. They Just look funny to me with either huuuuge doors or huge wheel openings.

are you needing it to seat 2,3,4 people?

if you are going to replace the body, I would consider going with something a little different than a Jeep body probably... but that's me...

IMO, I would take off the body, and find a front clip and just do all tube...

could use a ranger cab and do a truggy or a b2 body and have one like mine

Yeh, I've got a 90 model Ranger cab on an 85 full size bronco frame.

If you are really wanting to ditch weight, get a Samurai tub.

the build that never went any where.

i know what i did with the bronco, but what the hell did i do with the Dana 60 and CJ tub? how do you lose those?
