Black Friday Deals?

My Milwaukee tools are all 15+ years old. Only trouble I've ever had out of any of them was due to power cords wearing out.

By that measure, it stands to reason that I should never have a problem out of a cordless Milwaukee.

True but you need to find a way for the batteries to last that long.

I have a kick ass Milwaukee 3/8" impact that I can't use anymore because the batteries all crapped out. Replacements are like $120 each. For the cost of 2 new batteries I can nearly buy a whole new tool that includes... 2 batteries.

You can buy two brand new M18 batteries for $120, dude.

The DeWalt drill I mentioned earlier is just a shitty 18 volt nicad or whatever, and one of the batteries is shot after only a couple of years. The other one is so-so. But I'll still grab that POS most of the time, just because I don't have to pull a cord to use it.

I see a slippery slope with the M18 stuff where I own pretty much nothing but in a few years. I bought a new Sawzall a couple of months ago, but didn't splurge for the battery version then because I didn't have any other M18 stuff. Once you've got a drill kit, the math changes quite a bit.

Last I checked the NiCad batteries were much more than that. I guess it's now time to start looking for batteries if they are that cheap now. :)

Milwaukee currently has 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 9Ah battery packs in M18 and 1.5, 2, 3, 4 & 6Ah in M12.

Dewalt has the new flex-volt 20V/60V system that switches voltage based on tool.... and using a bank of those batteries has an inverter that powers 120vac toolery

Like @shawn said, slippery slope. Almost like walking off a cliff.

Everything I own that was made by DeWalt is a yuge piece of shit.
Same here.

This x1000. First I bought the hammer drill and compact impact. Then Sawzall. Then right angle drill. Then big impact. Then grease gun.

Now the handheld radial saw is on my Christmas list. The bare tool is about the same price as a good corded saw, and it's lighter, and the cord won't get in the way.

I have the 20v max 1/2 brushless dewalt impact. i had the same in a Milwaukee. The Milwaukee is a much stronger impact, but I prefer the dewalt batteries. I would recommend sticking with brushless, compare impacts per minute, stay with variable speed. My friend just bought the 1/2 brushless impact by Kobalt, it's busted stuff my dewalt couldn't. Also, the batteries are VERY affordable compared to the other too. All that being said, I think Kobalt is a lesser quality than dewalt. When I was in the market, i think the specs on the Milwaukee and dewalt were comparable, but the Milwaukee feels more solid in the hand.

We've switched everything cordless at work from dewalt to Milwaukee, from saltwater to hog shit, sewer pipe or drain pipe or double wall pipe the Milwaukee has the better battery life and the Milwaukee tools also just hold up better. I've used Milwaukee products submerged in water that preformed flawlessly, can't ask for much better than that

Except my miter box. I got that thing cheap enough that it's a great saw for the price.

Everything else? Shit.

Not trying to argue,

We have a couple dewalt kits that we have been using daily since 2008 ish.

Work well and never had an issue. I guess we are lucky.

I bought a lithium Milwaukee impact and drill and it sucks compared to the dewalt.

It has nowhere near the torque or battery life that the dewalt has.

My current dewalt stuff is 18v nicad, and the Milwaukee is non fuel lithium.

I want to try the dewalt dck283 kit as it has a super short drill with metal chuck and a 1/4 impact with the same motor and torque as their 3/8" impact.

My advice to anyone is buy the brand that you already have a bunch of other tools or batteries for so you can interchange all the tools chargers and batteries.

Also dewalt has the adapter to run 20v lithium batteries in the 18v nicad tools.

Wait.

You bought a battery powered grease gun? What do you think you are, a forklift mechanic?
Yeah, forklift mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, auto mechanic, machine shop mechanic, etc. There are probably 500 grease fittings within 100ft of my shop. And sometimes you need two hands to pump because the old grease is too hard, but then you can't hold the socket on the fitting and it pops off from the angle or the pressure. But with with a push button grease gun, one hand on the socket, one on the trigger, and just push the magic button

This. I had a couple of worn out Dewalt tools with crappy batteries, and since everything needed to be replaced, I wanted to start over completely with the newest/best stuff I could afford. I want the rest of you guys to get Milwaukee M18 stuff so when you decide you want the shiny new 50000 volt Dewalt, you'll post the M18 stuff on here for cheap and I can snatch it up :D

There is no deal good enough to drag me out on Black Friday to fight through a maddening crowd.

I can make more money, I have a finite amount of time and I'm not going to waste it shopping for a deal. I will pay more on another day.
That's what online purchases are for. Click, pay, get the deal in the mail later.
I haven't been to a store on BF in years.

11/32" works great for 8mm and 5/16" that are covered in a thick layer of rust.
