board speed?

I was having an issue, I downloaded "cc cleaner" ran the registry cleaner with it, fixed the problem I was having in chrome.

Question for you guys with problems. Who is your internet provider? I'm on AT&T here. When I had Time Warner everything was always stupid fast. The online speedtests say I have a 5MB'ish download speed, but its never actually anywhere close to that in practice.

Charter, I have the fastest internet & modem they provide.

At&T here as well...
hmmmm

its the only option available where I live

Is it locking up as it is loading the ad at the top of the screen or the bottom? I've found most ads at the top are flash based while the bottoms seem like standard images. I suspect all of your issues lie with your flash player or the flash plug-in in your browser. Figure out what you're using and make sure you're at the latest version. I'm using Adobe Flash Player 11.3 on this laptop.

Go to this link and look for the box that tells you what version you are running. Mine says "You have version 11,3,300,271 installed" for example. I'm actually a version behind as it seems the latest is 11.4.

If after updating, you still have issues. Try uninstalling your flash player and reinstalling. If that doesn't help then download a plugin like Adblock Plus and restart your browser, navigate to the site and see what's what. If that still doesn't work, then come back here and post up some more specific details on the steps you took and what happened.. Then give some more detail on specifically what the problem is.

I have no issues with the site no matter what computer, browser, phone or tablet I use. I don't block ads on this site. If only 3 out of ##### users are having troubles with lockups, then it's pretty obvious the problem lies with the software being used by the end user. There's about a billion different things that "might" be wrong. I realize it's extremely frustrating, but there are people willing to help. The more details you provide on the issue, the more likely you are to get a resolution.

I use AT&T, I have their fastest DSL. The forum loads damn near instant for me. Even with picture heavy threads.

It was a tad slower on my old lap top but it was about 5 years old and was starting to die anyway.

Dunno why or if it is related, but the latest (Maybe, I haven't checked to compare to what Chris posted earlier) version of flash crashes on me ALL the time. It locks up my computer until it registers as crashed and asks to submit a crash report. Whether I'm on the board, youtube, etc., along with almost always having gmail open. Does this on the home computer and my laptop at work. Frequently seems to be tied to having youtubes open, but not sure if it is always the case.

of all the forums I,m on this is BY FAR the SLOWEST DAMN ONE,,,,

I,m not on my work computer tonight,,,"on a friends" that appaerently works better,,,,,,

I can,t even post a reply on my work computer,,,,,takes so damn long it times out ,,,,,

says at the bottem of the page "waiting for/on ''//google ads///;; " :shaking:

but I guess somebodys gettin "paid" for all them damn "commercials",,,,,,I get on wheelin forums for wheelin,,,,

I could care less about a damn "JK,,,FOCUS,,,PRIUS,,,verizon,,,MERCEDES BENZ,,,,,NASCAR,,,,bla bla damn "commercial"

splattered all up in the damn middle of it:shaking:

BUT HEY,,,,,,,some folks call this PROGRESS :eek:

Right, so again... zukiscott has one computer that seems to work all right, and another computer that doesn't. That is not the fault of the NC4x4 servers.

And nobody makes any fawking money off this site. Those ads that everybody likes to bitch about? They fund the 12 Days giveaway, they pay the server bill, and... not much else.

I want to lay hands on one of these machines that is having problems. If you've got a computer that takes forever to load NC4x4, crashes when it does, or does so intermittently, I want to see it.

I'll be at Uwharrie next weekend for the CTB Fun Caravan. I'm willing to pay shipping to anyone willing to mail me a computer. I'd like to have it for a few weeks, so make sure you delete all the goat porn first.

It hasn't been deleted, the two threads were merged.

Now that's customer service... I don't know ANY other site out there where you pay $5.50 per year for that level of support...

Seriously guys.. just block the damned ads! Problem solved... I've put links to all the popular browser solutions below. If you're using anything older than internet explorer 8 then you should upgrade.. Or pay me $$$ to come fix your sheet and clean off your goat pr0n... or send it to shawn for free.. Personally.. i think you should pay me instead. :)

Internet Explorer 9, use Tracking Protection List from EasyList
-> https://easylist.adblockplus.org/en/#easyprivacytpl

Internet Explorer 8, use InPrivate Filtering List (This is a little tricky to setup. Good thing there's a step by step guide...)
-> http://www.wintuts.com/AdBlock-Plus-Filters-Internet-Explorer-8

Firefox, use Adblock Plus
-> http://adblockplus.org/en/

Google Chrome, use Adblock or Adblock Plus (beta) from the Chrome Web Store
-> https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/adblock

Chris, I don't think ads have anything to do with it. I think it's a bad version of Flash.

Being that the entire site runs primarily on flash I'd say that's a safe bet, but blocking the ads would be a good way to rule out if it's the flash in the ads causing the problems or the flash in the site. On another note... it did slow down a bit for me with the latest version of flash...might be placebo though.

Flash runs most all of the youtube videos and the file uploader, and of course some of the ads.

The animations and stuff are all done with ajax and jquery.

Just for fun, I dug out our old Dell laptop yesterday. It's ancient... probably 8yrs old, Centrino or some nonsense. It took a couple of tries to get it to boot to the desktop, but once there, I loaded the site in Chrome (current) and Firefox (not sure on the version, but it's not been updated lately). Both worked flawlessly. I opened a bunch of tabs in FF, still no problems.

It'd be nice if everyone could go to the link below and paste the contents of the boxes labeled "Your flash player version", "Your OS", "Your Browser". That should certainly help Shawn.

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player...lash_Player_version_installed_on_your_machine

For example, here's mine:

11.4.402.265
Mac OS 10.7.4 (64-bit)
Mozilla Firefox

Oh, and Shawn, for what it's worth, the site is very slow/hangs on my iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.1.1. As you know, flash is unsupported on the iPhone, but I doubt the slow behavior I see is the same as what they are seeing.

.... trying something else.

What about now?
