Bourbon

I'm late to the party but I've found quite a few bottles in the 40 range I'm happy to purchase again. Willett pot still is not one of them. I said what I said.

I was good with pot still when it was $39.99/bottle. Pretty sure it’s either 59.99 or 69.99…and definitely not worth it at that price point.

Just went to the ABC store a couple weeks ago to try to diversify my liquor cabinet some…bought about 15-20 bottles. Pretty sure at this point, my drinker shelf is just gonna become Clyde Mayes and New Riff. I’d honestly put those two against most anything sub-$100.
 
I’ll have to try the Clyde. New Rift didn’t impress me. Was a little harsh I thought. Might be showing my ignorance but Basil Hayden sp? Is my current favorite that I can find on the shelf easily.

New Riff single barrel is more of a true cask strength…somewhere around 58%. Their standard straight is 50%, which is still stronger than most of what you’ll find on the shelf. So it makes sense that it was harsh. Stronger bourbons are kinda like beer in the sense of it being an acquired taste.
 
Thought I’d change up the Woodford selection. This one is nice. Especially for $36

So no booze this month,,,,but still shopping and buying.

Popped this wild turkey 12yr I got from japan this past weekend......I'm not even a big wild turkey fan but this is one of my favorite bottles now! I wish I would have bought the other 2 for 50$ price lol...... And finally tried penelope again(Didnt like the first) but this toasted rye and the regular toasted is really good! Also picked up bottle of the new riff single barrel because of you guys and I will be buying another!

For me the ranking is
Rye
Bourbon
Wheated

Which is weird because if you asked me my typical flavor profile it would be the opposite.

But they are starting to get out there.

Yeah that 110 is msrp.
That particular store I have a love hate relationship with.
The owner is a bourbon guy and does amazing store picks.
If he’s in I get charged msrp (as do all “regulars”) - I also get cryptic text messages come to shop as close to 3 as possible - but if he’s not there the prices are all over the place. He always tells me - text me or call me if price too high I’ll have them fix for you…but seems weird and I’m not that guy.

So ….yeah. I paid 115 or 120 for my 3.

But it’s interesting McKenna was unfindable a year ago and it’s again collecting dust.
Half my regular stores have regular BT sitting always now and when a year or two back that was being handled like allocated.

Definitely think the boom is cooling.

Then there is the Assholes’s case of this little hole in the wall near the office. He gets 1 bottle of blantons a month. Check out the dust - he doesn’t sell any.

I think I have seen Balaton's on the shelf here once at $129. Camden I swear is a black hole. A couple years ago we had two stores owned by one person. Now we have 5 that are owned by 4 different people and it seem to be improving availability.
 
Is that RR15 beside the purple top??

If so next trip down to our job in Sumter I’m coming through and we need to meet up for a drink

I’m a noob on this Bourbon thing they had some wild stuff. One of the bar tenders worked at our regular watering hole works here now. Looked at my picture of you are asking if it’s Russel’s Reserve 15 then yes.

They had a bourbon in a box that she, our bartender friend, said was $400 a pour. I’m a cheap bastard and poor so I’ll just look at those. I was impressed with all the bourbons though. You come this way let me know I’ll come hang out.
