This is an easy one.
Scientifically scpeaking, it has to be the egg.
Why?
Viewed from the point of genetics....
Chickens have not been around forever. Started out w/ microorganisms and went up from there, right? (Evolution).
So there is a specific combination of genetics that makes it a "chicken". Other things may look kind of similar (e.g., duck?), but technically is a different species.
Before the first chicken was omething else, REALLY close - we'll call it "pre-chicken".
Genetic variation happens between generations, when combinations go from parent(s) to offspring.
Pre-chicken lays an egg that is, well, funky - genetically different - a mutant pre-chicken - and you have the egg that will become the first chicken.
End of story, easy enough.

this is one place where religion and science agree.
Either evolution made the chicken, or God made the chicken but either way the chicken made the egg
