Bristol on the dirt!

Best Nascar race I've seen in a very long time.

My accounting supervisors husband does suspension work/tuning for one of the truck teams. Regarding the flood like conditions, His feedback was from the nascar side of things it was an absolute shit show...but he likened it to that feeling of a high school practice and the field is flooded, and everyone in the thick of it has an absolute blast...aside from the cleaning and trying to be competitive of course.

As I watched a few highlights I was thinking a late model would destroy every car out there.

The late models would destroy the cup cars. They weigh about a thousand pounds less, have more horsepower, and a wider tire just to name a few. They were turning low 15's there the last couple of weeks compared to 19's by the cup guys yesterday.

And that's what makes late model races so f'ing cool and cup cars on dirt, not so much.

Meh, apples to oranges comparison IMO. I've also seen some late model races that would put you to sleep, and some stock four cylinder races that were the best show all night. For their first time on dirt in 50 years I think the cup race was decent enough. Apparently it was good enough they get to try again next year.

Speaking of apples to oranges, I think the "roval" was an awesome idea. Back to the dirt track stuff, the 4cyl classes can be good entertainment but the sound of a late model ripping it up makes my pants tight.

It was a hell of a mess, as it showed them trying to clean out the dirt/mud, in practice runs, & Drivers Not being able to see! But, before the Cup race was over, Nascar announced it'd be back for Next year! Shows how much interest & fans it generated!
I'm glad I was able to DVR it & the Truck race. I had to work, & got home about 6 pm. Watched both races, & got to FF all the BS & Commercials!:driver:

Friend of mine I work with is a huge NASCAR dood. He was there and he said it was badass to watch the scramble.

Lotta orange boogers bein picked today.
I learned to always sit at the entrance of turn one at the dirt track I grew up going to. You’re less red when you leave. The exit of turn 4 you were sure to be absolutely covered before the night was over. I still vividly remember having to use the shitter at the dirt track. I basically shit in a scene from SAW.

Our Limited Sportsmen cars From BGS in the 90s were faster than Cup cars at North Wilkesboro.
We shared the track up there testing with 3-4 other cars and 1 Cup car ...... Dale Sr.
Kept pissing him off because we would run him down. Kirk finally asked us for alone track time to shut Sr. up.
That was running an inline 6cyl. 250 cu engine!
But then again .... At Caraway we were faster than Late Models.
Mostly a difference in the rules though.

But looking at the empty seats in the pics shows how NASCARs "broader appeal" just brought on the suck.

Maybe ...... in fact probably ..... but Bristol hasn't sold out in the last few years, pre-rona, regardless of media hype.
That's why they decided to try the dirt.

Bristol is a great place to watch a race but a terrible track to try to get out of after.

Not sure if it factored in, but the race was also moved from Sunday to a Monday due to weather, I bet a lot of people couldn't go then?
They also allowed anyone who had a ticket to either race (truck or cup) to stay for both.

I was raised about 5 miles from Volunteer Speedway in Bulls gap TN.Its suppose one of the fastest dirt tracks in the US,can't prove it by me,but when they're running there's a cloud of orange dust you can see for miles.
