Figured I'd do my pathetic build thread. I bought this stock 97 XJ back in September of 08 and started SLOWLY building it up to something I'm halfway proud of.
3 Days after I bought it. Threw my lift on from my old XJ onto it with some 32x11.50's.

Bought some 33's from EasySteve and threw on a 1" shackle in the rear.

Then i did some body work, tinted the windows because I hated driving around in a glass box.

Then I HAD to replace that D35 with a 29 spline 8.25 that I got from 99NCXJ.

Then with the help of JC, we (well, mostly he) began to regear it.

Thats it for now. On the drawing board is a set of Long arms being built by Sqrl$$ and just getting the rear end done and under the heep.

What's that on the fender?
ahhh, well my friend made up some stickers that said NC Krawlers. Well come to find out, its a club on HERE! so i am not affiliated with them, so I dont want to advertise something that I am not apart of.

I haven't been wheelin in it yet. I wanted to do all the work first, then enjoy it. Been dying to take it out, but now that I am regearing the rear first, I will have to wait untill money permits for me to regear the front, which should be fun, since the axle is in the jeep this time!

glad to see your getting the 8.25 going. I've still got one more here if you want to build one for your girls jeep!

I had to grind a little of the tooth off in my 8.8 ring gear to get the pin in. The lock-rite folks said to do that. It worked fine with mine.

Finished up the axle today! Got it all bolted up, now just to install it and fill it with some gear oil!
Been wanting to trim my fenders for a while, but cause of my fear of angle grinders I never did it, So John stepped up to the plate and used his "guillotine" to trim em up a bit.
And this is how the Jeep sits as of now.

Well. I finally got the axle in. Install went pretty smooth. Installed some 6 degree shims as well as a full length AAL to my spring pack to give it some more life, and actually gave it about an inch or so of lift which leveled my jeep out great. The 4.10's feel awesome and can really feel a difference in stop and go as well as no downshifting when climbing hills. Over all I am really happy.
Tuesday brings long arm install :D

Got my long arms installed today with much needed help from John. The ride difference is amazing. It doesn't feel so stiff anymore. Gonna try to test them out tomorrow at work and take some pics.

whoa whoa whoa whoa. . . are those home build long arms with some plate just welded to the unibody as mounts?

thats what it looks like to me....not safe. I saw a guy near my house rip a long arm mount off the unibody.....no good.

Looks good. Your long arm mounts are scary though, the uni-body is not very thick and is easily cracked/ripped apart. Also what are you using for the upper control arms? Search for the problems with the Teraflex long arm system.

If there is anyway possible to bolt the UCA mount to the unibody...I would do so. The repetitive movement will eventually rip the metal. I would bolt it for sure. Have you done any unibody reinforcement?

whats scary about the mounts? The mounts are welded and boxed and then welded on the inside and outside of the frame rail. Seems all the aftermarket long arm kit upgrades including Rock krawler just have a mount that you bolt to the frame rail...
excluding the ones that have the belly skid tie ins.
