They are grade 5. I have heard that the grade 5 bolts will "flex" instead of break.
But yeah I will eventually bust out the grade 8 bolts.

grade 5 will flex...and then break...well before a grade 8 breaks

grade 5 is a big no no when it comes to really really important parts. . .
grade 5 will bend more because it's a softer steel, but it's shear strength is a fraction of that of grade 8. the way your brackets are mounted they'll fail in shear-cutting at the seam. You want something with a shear strength above butter. You're in the same boat right now as you were with just tabs welded onto the stock rails. . .

I see no marks identifying a grade 5. Looks like just plane old bolts. Heres one I did that incorporated the link mounts and the stiffener...

I would highly recommend doing something like that.

JC is pretty good at teaching people to weld. Taught me too! but as I am sure he could testify my first weld was not that pretty!
