**Cadillac 500 Swap Into a 1963 International C1300 4x4**

I had a friend louver a different one for me. I need to do a quick paint job on it before I install it.

Ok I have thought about doing that to an xj hood. What does it cost? What do you think of the idea of doing that to an xj hood?

hey bud project looks good. I have 2 500s myself ive been waiting to swap into something. I noticed you have a rear drop oil pan.. did you convert it or did someone else? Im curious to whats needed if the pan can be flipped around or what not.

I think it's a good idea but you have to remove the entire inner structure and weld it back in after you punch it. Could be a real pain. Not sure how much that would cost though.

It is an Eldorado engine with the factory rear sump. All that's needed to swap is an Eldog pan and oil pick up tube. Eldorado pans are hard to come by though. Depending on how your vehicle is set up you may be able to run any of them.

Thanks guys.

Yea I think the z car vents I have is a much easyer task.

I would think so. When are you getting that truck??

Next weekend. My nephiew graduates from High school and I'm taking the boys down to see it and the parents. Will bring it back then. Little Glenn and I hit up a local church that had a car show going on today. It was nice to see some trucks there but not one ford was present. Are the old Ford's rare?

Awesome!

No. The old F1 trucks are popular to say the least. The one you have is probably the nicest of the years. Can't wait to see the detailed pics and hear about your plans for restoration.

BTW...how far are you from Concord?

Not sure what I'm going to do. I think I might see what my Uncle, the brother to the origianl owner, says. I rember it being green when I was a kid. So Green is the color I'm leaning towards. I'm hoping I cna figure out what the original color was and go that way. Might do a brake upgrade. I definately want to keep the flathead and the original 3 on the tree. I'm about 80 miles from concord. I use to go there all the time to See my budy Andy. He has Ironman4x4 fab now and lives in Haysville.

If you absolutely feel the need for a brake upgrade by all means go for it but I will say that the F1 brakes are self energizing drum brakes that are highly desirable and work pretty damn good.

If you need flathead parts or a rebuild let me know.

IIRC when we first brought the truck to FLorida the mechanic that was working at my Dad's shop used a carb he had to get it running. I think the original carb is missing. I'll know more Thursday or Friday when I go load it up in Florida. How is the swap going? Looking foward to some pictures.

I drove that Bitch!!

Damn it runs great! I got it running about 3:30 today. Took it for a burn down the road. It pulled so good and shifted perfect.

Problems that I have to deal with tomorrow;

>Fuel pump won't stop leaking, possibly needs the vent hooked up properly not just plugged.
>I have to replace the rear main seal. Leaks like a bitch.

Other than that it's ready to roll. Wow am I pumped.

Update tomorrow.

That's awesome. It's taken me forever to get my tow rig running, but I can't work much during the day and I travel for work.

I think our rig is flat awesome.

Well, I'm am super excited right now. I finished up today and have been driving it since abou 3:30.

I ran into a few snags;
>had to fix the very leaky, new fuel pump
>had to replace the rear main seal and oil pan gasket
>had to replace a brake line that I kinked during the engine mocking
>had to fix the hood latch pin bracket

Other than that it actually went pretty smooth. Driving has been an amazing treat. The power really is unreal. It is weird to drive an automatic when I am so used to the 4 speed. The trans shifts strong and firm. I just have to barely touch the pedal and it scoots along with very little effort.

What needs to be done tomorrow;
>I need to realign the alternator and replace the worn fan belt
>build air directing sheilds to fill in gaps around the radiator
>install an overflow for the rad

Last pics of the install for now;

I was planning on putting it on but I have a few repairs to do to it first. Not sure when it's going on.

On a different note I had my first real failure today. I broke something in the trans today bad. Everything was fine. I stopped at a place to pick up a driveshaft for my wife's DeSoto. Went to leave and clunk, clunk, clunk.

I'll have the gory details Monday.

Figured out the problem. The clutches and steel plates were jacked.

I started assembly today and will finish tomorrow.

I'll keep you posted.
