Carolina Beach / Freeman park

what we use is an old lid from one of those circle charcoal grills. Works great and people are always throwing those things away, so it shouldn't cost anything.

And yes, the only CB police i have delt with were complete dicks, espicially the fat one. I did talk to one young looking officer out there, and he was very respectful and nice. Kudo's to him. If cops are sick of being badmouthed, they should talk to the dickhead officers and get them to chill out so they stop getting the bad rep....just like the illegal wheelers give us a bad rep.

i've never had an encounter with the cops out there myself, just go out there and have fun:driver::beer::driver:

Howdy again btw.
(I was the guy in the black TJ up at UNF, that went with the XJ to fix his ignition coil)

I was out on the north side of CB with my parents, pops is 60 (just retired) and looks like friggin santa claus with the white hair.
It's been ~3 years, (I think? first year they were charging) we're just sitting on the beach, no alcohol, no glass, cop comes up. tells us he knows we have beer in glass bottles cause he's seen us. He proceeds to pull EVERYTHING out of my jeep, complains about "chemicals" (oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and gear oil) and why was I planning on leaking them on his beach?
after about 45 minutes of him being OVERLY rude, he leaves. All of our stuff was all around the beach. VERY NOT COOL.

I'm hoping to get down there that weekend, but we'll see. Depends on wife's work.

Sorry to keep bashing on Freeman Park, but I thought the reason they were going to start charging admission was so they could build bathrooms and showers and such like at Ft. Fischer right down the road. The port a johns don't count!

My family went 4 or 5 times last year My kids love it. I do wish it was a little more low key, but I am gettin old too. How close some people come to the tents unnerves me a little. When is it least busy? I take the pan from the backyard fire pit we bought at wal mart. It slides right under the back seat of the YJ

after re reading this thread.....washers and wheels are huge! Anyone know of any other fire pit thats a bit more portable?
You don't use the whole machine, just the barrel it's only 18" deep and 17" in diameter, how small of a fire do you want to build? you could just light matches one at a time.
