Wanted to see what people are using on there log homes or anything in that matter,I have garage with raw cut wood for siding & they love it...anyone can point me in right direction that be awesome like to here from someone that used some kind of spray!!

We use badminton rackets and have fun. Also, can glue wooded dowels in their holes (suppose to keep the eggs inside the holes from being born). Make a couple of traps and hang them around. This is what we do around the house, any more helpful tips would be appreciated this way as well.

The holes are drilled at an angle going up towards the top.

My aunt & uncle have a log cabin they built...he has about 8-10 of these traps hanging around and swears by 'em. I want to say he mentioned they will also re-bore their holes eventually, but a 1/2" dowel rod can plug a lot of holes!
When ammo was cheaper, my brother and I used to go to his house and shoot them when they hovered close to the ground...good times!

They bore into the treated wood on my deck and scare the wife bad getting in her face agressivly. I smacked a few w a 1x4 but now watch them enter and then seal them in their holes w a caulkgun.

I look like spongebob with the racket it does work lol, how do the traps work?

Let me know where your getting it from & if works!! Note making traps as I type lol

Look up bee butter it has a natural pesticides that you put in the holes and it kills them and when the eggs hatch larva eat and die too. My father in law swears by it. Btw he has a big a$$ log cabin

How about traps, what do you do with mason jar just drill hole in bottom of trap and lid so they go in & can't get out? Put anything in to attract them?thanks guys for info!!

Yep. Nothing needed inside. They go in the hole of the wood - then go to the light in the jar, getting trapped. These work great.....

I used to drink beer and shoot big black ants w a Red Rider BB gun, from a neigbors deck about 16' off the bare ground of his yard. He was a Nam vet and really enjoyed shooting the scurrying insects for hours on end and I admit I enjoyed it also, ant snipers :D

Damn right! Hours of amusement. :D

i use seven dust in a turkey baster, ( the wife gave it to me after i washed it and tried to return it) i done all the holes i seen and the next day they were everywhere dead, kills the larvae and any bee that crawls in, i stuff the holes with steel wool after a few days, works great for me and its cheap

scared to death!!!!!

Great Stuff works wonders for filling the holes they bore too.

i work for a log cabin building and restoration company. the bees are a huge problem for any house that is log or wood sided. i use a tennis racket at my house. you cant just go buy a carpenter bee spray and i think that is because bees are protected? but not a 100% sure thats just what a vendor told me but any wasp or flyin insect spay will kill them. i would caulk the holes if you can conceal is a caulk made and designed for log homes and can be matched to almost common log stain its made by sashco. But there is nothing you can do to kill them all but you can keep them in check. we've had to replace fly rafters that were almost eaten in half by these guys.

my buddy had one bore a broom handle last summer, i found that funny for some reason

scared to death!!!!!

Buy Cross Check and some surfactant. Mix it at 1 oz. per gal. of water in a sprayer and spray all areas that you want to protect. Not a light spray but heavy until the surface is soaked and it is dripping off. You may need to do it a couple of times at a weeks interval and then maybe monthly after that. Read the directions thoroughly, wear a mask and goggles and gloves. It's a very safe insecticide but you should always take precautions. It's also good for ants, termites, mosquitos, etc.
Someone mentioned Talstar also and it's a good one too.

trap one.. kinda ghetto but hey will see if it works and ill make a few nice ones. and check out my log in the second pics... freakin eating chunks out...
